Invisible shield screen protector install
Ok to my disappointment I ordered this supposedly great unbeatable screen protector. Ordering is easy, shipping is fast, but when I opened the envelope I have two screen protectors for the X50 and not the X50V that I ordered, thinking it must be the same I proceeded to install it. There is NO instuctions in the envelope, just a cheap piece of paper instructing you to go to the web for the directions to install. After printing out the instructions and getting the exact 6ozs of water and one drop of soap (instructions say to use 5-8 ozs) in a small container and washing my hands to make sure I didnt have a fingerprint issue. I proceeded to wet down the film and peel off the backing label which was hard enough due to the film edges not being cut deep enough. Finally I won that battle and proceeded to install this "Ultimate" screen protector on my brand new and just cleaned screen. I had to add more soap because the first second and third try the film wouldnt slide to line it up correctly, after getting the solution just right the film was applied. I noticed at this time that the film was hardly large enough for the x50v. There was approx 1/16th inch space all the way around the edge that was unprotected as well as a small, what appeared to be hair that was imbedded into the sticky side of the film, so I removed the film and tried with no avail to remove the hair like material.
After 30mins of this frustrating task I gave up. I figure I would rather spend the 75 bucks for a new screen rather than the risk of getting pissed and throwing the whole PDA out in the street and the expense of anger managment classes. I have now calmed down and stuck it all back in an envelope to call them tomorrow and see if they will refund my money. I guess I will try the writeshield next.
I will let you know how good customer service is in my next post

If you don't like writeshield, try Boxwave cleartouch crystal screen protectors, that is what I use, very easy application, and the size is very exact (not too small)

Thanks for taking the dip for the community and reporting this..much appreciated!
I cant imagine that I would ever apply a screen protector wet to my PDA!
Anyways you will almost always have dust or hair in the sheet while you try to apply it, most likely from the PDA screen. Writeshield comes with toothpick like plastic sticks that supposedly helps you lift the screen when you want to remove it. I turned it into an art to use it to slowly remove any sort of contaminent. There is no way ever that you can install any of these things without any dust particles. So to make it perfect lift the scren slightly and work your way around to push the particles or hair out to the edge. VOILA perfect results

I installed the invisible shield on my x51v night before last. I had no problems whatsoever. I was very careful to wash my hands and clean the screen prior to installation, and I squeegeed the protector with a damp paper towel instead of a card or my thumb. I wanted to absorb any and all free water that came out as I worked.
My battery has been too low this weekend, and my cradle is at work, so I don't have a lot of screen time on the protector yet. The feel is different, with a bit of "sticktion" on stylus strokes. That was after about 8 hours of drying time, so it may firm up over time.
I used the Boxwave protectors on my Clie, and I really liked them, but I like to try new products also.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I can tell you I'm very pleased with my WriteShield kit - I got it from Expansys UK. If you get the kit, it comes with some fitting tools, brush to clean under the screen edges, wipes to give it a good clean before you put on the screen protector, a non-abrasive lintfree cloth to give it a clean after you put on the protector, and a very helpful and informative guide as to how to put it on correctly. I followed it step by step - it's quite easy - and got a perfect fit.
Would you like me to scan the little guide so you can have a look? It's only a piece of glossy paper, but it's a nice guide and I found it helpful. :approve:
And no, I don't work for PPC Techs (I wish!) :) - I'm just a very happy customer.

Yeah. :) At first you think "Eh?! Only ONE screen protector?!" but after using it for months, you realise that it's so durable you'll probably only need one for a whole year or more, maybe!

HMMMMMMMMMMM
Maybe you should just submerge your Axim in a basin of soapy water while applying the "Ulimate". That would surely keep the dust and finger ptint issue at a minumum and make it easy to possition.
Wadoya think??

Maybe you should stick the G3. I had a horrible time installing the Boxwave. It took me three tries, each time having to wash it.

Boxwave ClearTouch: excellent
I agree with Tootdawg. I used a ClearTouch on my x5 (which my wife has now to play Bejewelled :) ) and I ordered 1 for my x50v. I only ordered 1 because, after 2 years, the same one is still on the x5. They're incredibly durable, and they make writing smoother than the original screen.

I had used the boxwave non glare and they were a nightmare to install. Kind of the same experience as dbbrowne had. Then tblove turned me on to Screenguardz. They cost $10 for 15 and were easy to apply and look nice on the screen.
