Considering this thread is all about the 3300mAh battery, I'll forgive you. :)

Yes, Dell WILL replace your X50v with an X51v, if you do it right...

The batteries at lionbattery.com and aximcases.com are the same battery, right? If so, aximcases.com is the way to go due to the discount! I think I'll have myself one. I'll never have to buy a microdrive if I combine this battery with Orb :)

Don't forget that Lion Battery also has a discount for Aximsite members (see member's discount forum).

Cradle Mod

I just received two of these batteries from LionBattery for the company I work for. I can say that the lady that does our ordering was very pleased with the way they worked with us on ordering.

When installed in the PDA, they come real close to fitting in the cradle. If you are gentle, you can get a connection with no case mods. However, this does put some strain on the connector which can't be a good thing. The cradle mod though, is as easy as can be. I used a small file. I would imagine that you could use a fingernail emory board as well.

You can see on the cradle where the battery cover touches the cradle. Just very gently file some of that plastic on the cradle down. You've got plenty of plastic to work with. Just angle the file evenly across the edge that the battery touches and gently file away. Took me two minutes. Maybe three or four with an emory board. Once you are done filing and it fits, use a black permanent marker to darken up the spot you just filed. Unless you can see a mosquito from across the room, it is very hard to tell the cradle has been modded.

I am extremely happy with this battery.

This is a follow up to my old post - http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showp...2&postcount=98

I have been using my axim X51v w/ the 3300mAh battery for a month now, and it is great. The 3300mAh battery lasts the entire day even w/ wireless on (battery does get slightly warm). My battery door mod works well and I haven't had any problems w/ not using the large battery door. Charging and syncing through the sena case works very well since the case was already designed for it. I think this is a good mod as now the battery's heat can transfer directly to the case and also through the two little holes in the case. There's also _slightly_ less plastic to carry. All in all, I am glad I moved away from palm.

I have a beautiful Sena case that works great with the 3300 battery. It last 10+ hours with a full charge, even with BT on in the car running GPS software and the brightness turned up all the way. The blue trim on mine is a nice touch of class IMHO.

Just a suggestion, I use a Boxwave USB Charge/Sync cable and it works fine. You will do not have to remove or cut anything.

this is interesting, that im posting some 3 years later and bringing back this topic... but I'm about to purchase:
"Mugen Power Super Extended Capacity Battery 3300mAh for Dell Axim X50(v) and X51(v)" from aximcases -- now, I know it won't fit in the cradle, but can I charge it with this:
http://www.pdasmart.com/gimages/axim/x3dongle.jpg

the x51v comes with something like this, can I not just charge it with that?

Swapping Mugen 3300 w/ std battery

I purchased a Mugen 3300 back in June-07 for my X51v. I have modified my cradle so I can charge & sync. I bought the battery to use for extended periods of time while sailing l and am very pleased with the performance in that regard.

Now that fall is here, I'd prefer using the std battery (for size considerations) till next sailing season.

What is the best method for preserving the 3300 til next season?

I would try charging it on your device once every month to 6 weeks. That sould keep it topped off.
