I've had my Boxwave Cleartouch crystal screenprotector installed for a few weeks. I have noticed on how many scratches it has already. Here's a pic of what I'm on about. http://www.stevvie.nildram.co.uk/Boxwave Scratches.JPG
Is this normal wear for boxwave. I do know this one is different from the origional one I received from boxwave(first one had a ripple in the adheasive), the second one has a nasty lable to aid install in the upper right corner. This lable was horrible to remove from the screen, it was REALLY sticky. I used to have an Ipaq 2210 with a no brand antiglear screen protector that had the same sort of use and still looked brand new after about 5 months of the same light usage this boxwave has had for only a few weeks. Other than the amount of scratches this screen has I am totally happy with it.
Are you sure your not leaving the protecting layer on the boxwave when you installed it? The boxwave "Protecting sheet" apparently has 2 protecting sheets of its own in packaging (even though the instructions say nothing about the second one...i just installed mine today)... one on the front ... one on the back ..
To start you remove the backing which has a label on it that says "Remove this plastic backing in advance" that exposes the sticky side of the real protector sheet ... once applied using the applicator to squeeze out the bubbles, one corner should still have a green label on it that says "Remove Me" ... that is the top protecting layer of the "Real" protecting sheet ... once that is off I finished getting the last of the bubbles out of that corner with the applicator
That "Nasty" label as you call it,should have been attached to the front layer of the packaging and should also be removed once installed.
That is how I did it today and got it installed rather easily. Now why does the boxwave instructions mention nothing about this extra layer I have no idea.
I just got the same screen protector a couple weeks ago and I can't see any scratches on mine (just a small dust spec that got under the protector during install).
I've had my screen protector on for about a month or so, and I've got no scratches or marks on there except for where I flubbed up putting on the protector (yay for butterfingers!).
Hrm.

Mine is so scratched up it's not even funny.
I didn't see this " second layer " on mine. Mine scratches with nearly every stylus touch. Will never buy Boxwave crystles ever again.

I've used Boxwave screen protectors forever and have only notice problems like this when I
a) have somehow gotten a rough spot on the tip of my stylus
b) play a game so much that I wear a single spot repeatedly
It looks like you've got the latter, though it's hard to tell with all the dust and dirt on your screen (or under your screen protector). If your screen has a lot of junk on it when you drag your stylus around, you're probably dragging that dirt around too and causing scratches.
The point, however, is that you've scratched your screen protector and not your screen.

You should check your stylus. I have been using that screen protector for about three months, and although it has some scratches, it isn't nearly as bad as yours is. Anyway, it doesn't bother me because I know the screen under the boxwave is being protected!
I have had the same one on for over 2 months and while it has some scratch marks I plan to use it for a while longer. Better than the screen getting them. So for me ...total satisfaction.
This is depressing. Not the thread I'd have liked to see a couple of days after ordering crystal clears myself, EXACTLY for the reason that I couldn't believe the scratching on Dell's protectors(!). And it seems that most of the replies from Boxwave owners aren't denying the scratching, but making excuses, which doesn't fill one with confidence. I mean "at least the screen isn't scratched"?! Give us a break. Anyway I'll wait till I have mine and have put them through the ringer before I weigh in with my two cents, but Stevvie...offhand I share your concern.
I'm really shocked. I have had several Boxwave screen protectors and they have never done that. I just ordered some for the X51V that I ordered. I hope they don't scratch like yours.
I've never known a Boxwave to look like that. Although I personally use WriteShield I have a few friends that use Boxwave. Neither of our screens look that bad. Are you using a pen or pencil or nail instead of a stylus all the time? That is awful looking.

Ummmm... Isn't that the point of a "screen protector"? Aren't they supposed to get scratched instead of the screen? Then you would replace the "screen protector" for $20 instead of the screen for $200.
but some screen protectors will protect the screen for a lot longer than others

lakota69 was right, for me at least. I had indeed left the top protective layer on and now I feel foolish and happy all at once. Although to my Defense the instruction that came with it and the instructions on the web metion NOTHING about this. After taking the top protection cover off the x50v looks sooooooooo clear, it's as if there was no protector on there. And before somebody say's Am I sure i just didn't remove the cleartouch crystal itself, I can still see it as it's not an exact match to the screen size it has a gap of about 0.5mm (thats all) around the edges.
