Im looking to get a CF card for my new x51v, and I just ran into a web site that says this Dell will take both CF type I and II, think it's a typo and just Type II can be used.


Kingston has the 4GB Elite Pro CompactFlash Card 45x for $260-


What exactly is the max size I can fit in teh x51v.. Will it take 6 or even 8gig cards?

The slot will indeed take both Type 1 and Type 2. As for max size, people have posted success with the 4GB CF cards on their X50v's, so I would imagine these cards would work on the X51's as well. People have also been using larger Microdrives.

I use a 4gb CF and 4gb SD card on my x51v without problems (except of course the WM5 dissappearing CF card issue, I hope the updated rom will be released soon) and can access the full amount of memory on the cards.

That stinks I didnt know before hand. Everything on the box, Dell web site..etc did not state that the X51v supports both Type I and II CF cards


For starts I had bought a Sandisk 1gig SD card. 1gig should do me good for a while because I have a seperate 60gig Creative MP3 player and Sirius Satellite radio.
