Wifi and the Ambicom CF card

I have the X51 basic model so I purchased a wifi card from Ambicom. I have some questions and issues that maybe some of you can shed some light on. My X51 has windows mobile 5.0. My desktop has windows 2000 pro and a laptop with windows xp pro.

First the Ambicom will not connect with my wifi access point with encryption enabled. I don't really like having my wifi access point open with no encryption but that is how it is for now. Ambicom did answer my request about wifi by sending me the location of a driver for windows mobile 2003 but they made no statement at all about the encryption.

Second I am not able to use file explorer to explore files on desktop pcs on my home lan. I have tried using the unc address ie
\\desktopname\shared and always get "the network name cannot be found" and then "Network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network."

Does anyone have a real easy to understand guide to solving any of these problems? Heck do you have a real hard way to solve it, after all I am not getting anyplace just yet.

For security, make sure to enter the key in hexidecimal format.

For the shares, you might try Total Commander. Check the Networking your Pocket PC section of the WiFi Guide for some more suggestions.

BTW, I'm glad to hear you have the Ambicom card working (at least to some degree) with WM5. I think this is the first CF card that I've gotten any indication of it working. And you are just using the WM03 drivers?

I have the Ambicom card 2.5 and when I use it outside, it slows my AXIM 51V down, then all stops and I cannot even tap anything on the screen. I think it is taking up too much memory. I don't have anything in there! This is new. I did a soft reset, and still nothing. I did get an error message about the drive.exe. When I disable or not use the Ambicom card and select the Dell card already in the Axim it's okay. I wanted to use Ambicom to boos my reception. Is there something I can try or what else is better to use?
