Being an old time computer user I am very sensitive to magnets around my computer. I am looking at getting a Sena case for Christmas but I see that it has a magnetic closure. Has anyone experienced any problems with the magnet around computers, credit cards, my groin (when carrying it in my front pocket), etc.
I have not heard of any problems and this question has been ask several time before with no negitive comments.I think you are the first to ask about a groin problem. If you see anyone with an Axim and they have a really high voice you may want to ask them what kind of case they have.
No problems at all with these case magnets. They aren't strong enought to cause problems. Few user at work use these and nothing was reported related to the magnet so far.

The only problem I have is when I'm carrying my laptop case home using the same side shoulder that the case is on. Obviously it hits the Sena case open when I'm walking and the magnet doesn't hold so the case flaps open. I always tell myself that next time I'm taking off the Sena before going home, but I always forget.

I carry mine usually in my front pocket (in its Sena Case). Sometimes my groin swells, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the magnets ;).

Sena is a female owned company. In their charter, it is rumored, they want to "achieve a female dominated society where all women will wear Sena purses and male slaves will make them. Upon completion of female domination, a handful of males will be kept away from the groin magnets in order that they may aid in the reproduction process." Nobody from Sena could be reached for comment.
The Axim doesnt us any kind of magnetic storage so your safe.
Unless your one of us that have a microdrive added in the CF slot. But I don't have a magnetic closure on my case to test if it causes problems or not.
The following parts of your computer can be affected adversely by magnetism:
- Your monitor, if you have a CRT
- A floppy disk, if you have a powerful magnet and you really try
The following parts of your PDA are adversely affected by magnetism:
-
Well, then.
Contrary to popular belief (see also: the "horror stories from tech support" urban myths that always seem to follow the one about the cupholder) having magnets near, stuck to, or on your computer will not harm it.
If you take your hard drive apart you'll find a sizable NiB (rare earth) permenent magnet inside - the strongest currently available permanent magnet there is - that is used to move the heads. Inside your hard drive. About an inch away from those platters that everyone told you can be hosed by a magnet.
Bollocks.
Even if you had a microdrive in your PDA the only way you'd be able to damage the data with a magnet is if you threw the thing into a running MRI machine. In stock form your PDA has no magnetic storage media or magnetic working parts of any kind. These days, you're lucky if your PDA has enough metal in it just to make a magnet stick to it let alone be damaged by it.
Also, magnets have been tested and proven again and again to have no quantifiable effect on the human body whatsoever, regardless of what the package of that copper/magnetic bracelet you bought off of QVC tells you. (Point: Getting stuck in that same MRI machine doesn't cure and/or kill you.) That myth too is bunk, so I can personally assure you that your magnetic case is not causing your... personal problems.
