Stylus Coating
I was just wondering if anyone else had their stylus' outer metallic coating rub off like mine has? If so why can't they just MAKE them out of aluminum instead of PRETENDing they are?

Because aluminium is 100 times more expensive than plastic?

have not had it happen with the x50v stylus

but with the classic dell stylus (like on my x5, the x3, and x30 series) it was a common thing that would happen

a copper color would show through on those stylus

I look at it as at least it is not all plastic like the palm stylus...

I did find a replacement on e-bay that's actually metal and fits my Axim like the original. This is the one, the others are crap! Nice tip and reset pin but I NEVER have to reset my X51v! NOT!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Aluminum-2-in-1-...cmd ZViewItem

There's also a lot of other alternatives: http://www.stylusplus.com/index.html

I kinda like the full sized pen stylus.

You can use the end of the stylus to reset the x51....you dont need a special reset pin

Also, my original has yet to flake off

I do not use the stylus that much as I have a pen with Stylus point. Mine looks pretty much new.

No dechroming going on here. Not with Dell's or Belkin replacement stylus. The least of my worries!

I make it a point to order a pack of replacement stylii when I order a new device. I did it with my x5 and I did it again with my x50v. I'm not so concerned about the coating rubbing off; I'm much more prone to lose them...or leave them on my desk over the weekend when I take my Axim home. I leave the spares at home and I'm covered.

I know this post is kinda off-topic, but since we're talking about the stylus, I thought it might be good to bring up.

Yes... and I do, that's just how it comes. Can you imagine how long the ink last in the ones that fit the case and that have a pen?

Ugh...my stylus fell in between the seat and console in my car when I was reading directions off my Axim at a stoplight. I can't seem to get it out or even see it down there, although I heard it fall down there. I'm going to try again when it's brighter outside, but now it looks like I need to buy some replacements.

Thanks for the heads-up on ones that might work and fit in the body.

When I had my X5, this happened after about a year. So far so god with my X51 stylus.
