Be careful if you ask Dell for help
I have been trying to upgrade my 424mhz X51 with wm2005 to the latest version of wm2005. To do this I went to Dell and found the update files, downloaded them and gave it several tries. Nothing works for me, everytime I get the message that the update program cannot connect with the axim. This even though I just finished syncing with activesync and leaving it connected. So after trying this on two machines with the same results I contacted Dell chat support twice. The first time I was told to uninstall activesync and reinstall it. This of course did no good. The second time I contacted them the person tried to have me install the wm2002 to wm2003 update, the X51V 612mhz update and then told me no update was available. I can just imagine what a mess I could have had if I had not read the page I was sent to before doing anything. As it is I have to reinstall all of my software and still have not done the update.
