X50v Stuck in Case!
I have an InnoPocked Magnesium case for my Dell X50v, and have enjoyed it's great features for almost a year now. However about a week ago I found that I was unable to remove my X50v from the case. It is stuck! I can push or move it about 1 inch only and it sticks solid, and can not be forced beyond this point (I've applied as much pressure as I dare trying to force it to come free. I fear I might dammage the PDA if I apply more pressure). I have no idea what could cause this. My only thought is that it's not impossible that when I changed my battery, that I failed to lock the battery door in place and perhaps the battery door slides against the pda a little and then sticks wedging the X50v in place (I do not know this is what is happening, I'm only trying to guess what could cause it).

I'm considering trying to break the case off and order another to replace it. However the case is of such good quality, so strong....that I'm not certain I could even break or cut the case off without dammaging my PDA.

Please advise me of any thoughts you may have regarding how to either dislodge the Dell X50v from the case, or how to most easily break/cut the case off of it.

I think we can offer better advise if you post a couple of pics, including where it seems to be stuck the most

If the battery door is wedging, could you stick a credit card type object in from the top before it binds? Have you tried chilling it to reduce friction? Good luck.

Will it do my X50v any dammage to get it cold? How much "chill" should I give it? Should I put it in the refridgerator or the freezer? I'll try anything, but don't want to damage my X50v.

"I can push or move it about 1 inch only and it sticks" It sticks one inch from the bottom of the case, it is only possible to move it about an inch and it lodges tight as though it had come up against a solid obstical.

I do not have an InnoPocked Magnesium case, and the only picture I could find at http://www.aximcases.com/store/detail/mdcx50mg.html is not clear enough to determine how to get it out. I can not goto http://www.innopocket.com/ because my work is currently blocking most active shopping web sites. I don't mind helping people out, but they have to helpful too by supplying more information. In this scenario, the best way is with a picture. Maybe I (or someone else) could see something that you've missed.

From what I can see at http://www.aximcases.com/store/detail/mdcx50mg.html - it looks like it has a doible hindge at the top. Have you tried opening the top cover all the way and inverting the case so the LCD screen faces down?

Or maybe your case looks differently? See why a picture can be worth a thousand words?

That would probably do the trick, but would probably render both the case and possibly the Axim X50v unusable.

I saw a trick to remove a stuck wine decantor top a while ago, it may just work for this.

They vibrated the decantor with an electric razor. The quick vibration loosened the top. Give it a try and let us know if it works.

What a great tip!

Man, I hate that five o'clock shadow on my X50v

TRY THIS!

I have the same case, and that is one of the biggest drawbacks, it seems to want to "keep" the case on...

Here's how I remove mine:

Push it up from the bottom, while trying to keep the LEAST amount of pressure on the sides of the case. I usually hold it from the back with my left hand, only holding onto the back bottom lip (by the sync cable cutout), and the top of the hinge protusion (lid folded behind, again, not touching the sides). Kind of like how you would hold a deck of playing cards, grasping just the top and bottom.

Once you have the PDA up about an inch or so, I then grab the case from the bottom, my thumb inside the case (fingers opposing on the outside bottom back of the case), not touching the sides at all, and push it up a bit more until I can grab the PDA and pull it out.

The issue is with the flexability of the case. While it is a very strong magnesium, it flexes enough for you to pinch it within the case, while trying to take it out.

If your battery door etc. is holding you up, this may not be as helpful, but I believe it may just be the pressure your applying while trying to remove it, try to not hold it at all by the sides when trying to slide it out.

Hope very much that this helps!

Happy Holidays!

Hey, thanks for the tip, that works for me! I don't know if it'll help HouTex1 or not since that may be a different problem, but I've had a terrible time forcing my X51v out of that case in order to sync it in the cradle. By leaving the pressure off the sides as you suggest, that does make a difference. Still a little too tight for my comfort (I think they could have provided a little more slack in the design), but it's a nice case.

Eureka! I've done it!
Thanks to all who responded....really appreciate your input.

I cut some long, thin, stiff, plastic sheeting off of of some packaging and slid it in under the Axim X50v, and was finally able to remove it from the case.

I can't believe I abused my treasured X50v as I did, but I'd changed my battery in the dark, and apparently neglected to secure the top of the battery compartment lid before sliding it into the case. The lid was laying open against the case, and I'd locked the bottom latch. When I'd attempt to push the Axim out of it's Innopocket Mag Case the protruding top edge of the battery compartment lid would jam into the edge of the plastic at the top of the case and hold it tight. As many of you know this case secures the Axim rather tightly and securely, there's no room for anything else.

Can't believe I did something so dumb...and thanks again to all who responded

I'd also suggest screwing in the back clip and hold that with one hand while holding the axim with your other hand. Thumb on the bottom and other fingers on the top and slide it out. zero pressure on the sides of the case and the axim slides out easily
