The swissgear backpack by wenger is awsome if not a little pricey at $60-80.

I have to agree. Everyone has it at my college. It has a really spacious area for the laptop, as well as a huge front pocket for random whatever. It's sturdy and protects well.

Check out targus.com. They make some great laptop backpacks/carrying cases.

I have a targus one which is ok... It looks like a normall one, so you're not advertising the fact you have an expensive laptop in there

Most of the camera bag manufacturers make them. Look to Tamrac, LowePro, and others. Also, eBags has a fair selection and an adequate search capability. I use a Pelican hard case myself for my laptop.

I appreciate all to those who submitted suggestions. I looked and analysed and researched and realized they are all CRAP. Mainly because with its padding and its bulkness for extras just did not satisfy my requirements for protectiveness. Until I found this. Which looks if I am correct can handle quite a few drops indeed.

Not only does it look cool but does what I want it to do. Protect my laptop and my pda. The only drawback is the cost but for what it does almost justifiable.

Well that's told us then!!!!

Seriously if you had a list of requirements it might have been nice if you shared them before dissing our suggestions

i have used many types of backpacks, cases and such for my laptops and camera gear - i think i have like 35 cases or so (ok so i have somewhat of a case fettish)... anyway - lowepro and tamrac both have verry padded cases and i think both are good choices. i have a habit of throwing my equipment around in ways that void most warrenties, and have found that those two companies have the most padded bags and most durable. if i can drop a laptop and nikon camera rig 30 feet in a bag and it not get damaged, chances are it is going to be padded enough. just my thoughts on it.
