is there a cable to video out? especially to my portable dvd which has a video in, or even if using as a viewer, or think for business projects etc. is this possible?
What about those adapters people use for powerpoint presentations of their ppc?
That is vga out. What the original poster is asking about, is video composite out (in laymen terms, the yellow wire of the standard white, red, yellow video game system wire.)
I believe there are inexpensive adapters that extract at least s-video and maybe also composite video from a VGA cable, since that signal is essentially already embedded in the pins of the VGA specification. Like this:
If you add that to a VGA presentation cable, like the one Dell makes, or the one chrismax is selling here on Aximsite, then that might be a cheap and effective solution. :)

Nope, won't work. This will only work with graphic cards that support TV out. (Which the x50v/x51v does not support)
This is more for PCs.
Looks interesting though, but I don't believe it would work either.

Addition who needs that kind of stuff any way huh?

Oh, really? So some video cards support "TV out" through the VGA port and others don't? I didn't know that.

Since the X50v uses an Intel 2700G graphic processor, you 'might' be able to re-program the horizontal and vertical scan rates down to the standard NTSC TV frame rate. After all, you can go up to 1280x1024 with the graphics chip on an external display so you should be able to go the other way.
Maybe if we ask NYDITOT if they can see if something like this is feasible, then all that would be needed is an inexpensive RGB combiner chip and colorburst crystal for the reference to interface the Axim output to a TV. Of course, the LCD would be totaly unreadable.
From what I read in http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ths8135.pdf I'm pretty sure that in theory the axim can do most of the work needed for a proper 'TV out' (composite/s-video) signal.
Questions:
1/ what hardware stuff is still needed?
2/ Can you program the chipset to do it somehow?

Can someone smarter than me comment on this?
The hardware is easy. There are already chips that convert RGB to composite. You need to know the nitty gritty of the 2700G GPU programming.
Why not send off an email to the nice folk at NYDITOT.com to see what they say. They re-wrote their software to take advantage of the X50v/X51v output so they would have a better perspective on this. Of course, they could probably do some custom programming if you came up with the cable/interface design.
