Innopocket Magnesium case for x51v
I think I'm going to buy the Innopocket magnesium case for the Axim x50/51v, and I was wondering how those of you who have it like it. Is it 100% metal? How does the closing mechanism hold up? I read the AximSite review of it, and the only main concern of the reviwer (that I can remember) was how well the case latch would hold up. Also, I read somewhere on the web that the front part of the case is plastic. Is this true, or was that bad information?

Thanks,
Delta

Many have this case around here.

The early models had some major issues with the hinge, but the models now have been seemingly good.

I believe the clasp and some other parts have a bit of plastic, but no worries as it is very rugged. The front part i believe is metal.

The hinges and front clasp are plastic. The 2 nubs that hold it close recently broke on mine. Also the black paint is all chipping off. that being said I still like the case and would buy another.

OK, thanks for the replies so far. Also, does anybody know if the hard cases by PDAir are any good? I haven't seen any reviews on PDAir cases designed for the x50/51 series.

Thanks,
Delta

Been using mine for over 1 year, no marks, no damage, no issue, I totally recommend it, however I also recommend picking up some extra belt clips.

Aximcases discount
My Magnum is enroute and hopefully will arrive soon. Just in case you don't know, here is a link to get a 15% discount for all aximsite users. I didn't use mine at first because I couldn't find the link/code. I emailed aximcases after my order had gone through again and they still applied the discount. Haven't gotten my case yet, but I am very impressed w/ aximcase's customer service.

Hope we enjoy our new cases!

The front of the case is metal. The hinge is plastic but very sturdy. I've had mine for about two months and really like it. I can see where there would be a concern about the latching mechanism, but only time will tell. It seems that it will hold up over time. The only change I made to the case was to remove some of the foam insert in the bottom of the case to get an easier fit with my sync/charger cable.

I have the Pdair and it's ok but I use the magnum case 95% of the time now. easier to hold and use. Pdair has a funny closure and can close too far. The top can be depressed into the screen with enough force. Not the best but I use it sometimes when I need to use the 2200mAh battery.

I wouldn't reccoment any hard case except for the magnum, because non-magnesium cases (even aluminum) tend to be very heavy. The magnum feels a little heavier than heavy plastic

been very impressed with mine , had it about 2 months , no drop test data but I have confidence in it if I do drop my axim.

the hard plastic sections are , either side at hte top back for the aerials , the hinge conncetion bit and the front at the bottom for the closure clip.

highly recommended case

Why do you need the extra belt clips?

When you put your axim in, will the 2 sides of the case scratch the paint of the axim off(eventually)? Do you have to take the axim out in order to put it on the cradle?

There is that gray foam lining on all of the interior of the case. Actually, on the upper left and right rear corners of the case it is plastic and form fitted for the rubber stubs to fit into. I'm not sure how much wear the paint will take after a lot of inserting and removal. I will say that it takes a "little" effort to push it in and to take it out of the case. This is probably a good thing however, as it makes it quite a snug fit.

I just got my case 2 days ago and LOVE it!
