Another satisfied MAGNUM owner!

Just got my Magnum case a couple of days ago and I'm really diggin' it. However, now that I can't use the cradle w/out taking my Ax out of the case I was wonding if anyone has created or discovered a "holder" to place the Ax in with the USB sync/power cable attached.

I originally modified the plug that came with the Axim but have since purchased the Belkin travel sync/charger cable that works unmodified with the case.

AKA,
My cable works fine w/out any mods. I have a Dell USB cable w/ a femal port to plug the power connector to. I bought my Ax second hand and I'm not sure if this cable ships standard or not. Do you just lay your Axim on the table when synching/charging? I was looking for a way to get it so my Axim sits up just like it was in the cradle. Obviously it won't work w/ the cable connected to the bottom. Any ideas? Also, do you have the retractable travel cable? If so, do you think it's worth buying if I have this Dell cable?

Thanks again!
Ed

Ah! I understand. Yes, I lay the PDA flat. Even in my Palm days I used this method. I guess I don't really like cradles.

However, it wouldn't be too terribly difficult for someone with the appropriate skills to construct a stand that had the neccessary base cavity for the plug so that the PDA would sit up ala cradle. A block of wood, some skills, and a Dremel mototool, right? Alternately, some of that plastic-like sculpter's clay.

A retractable cable (or not) is entirely personal preference.

Yeah...I'm just waiting to see if someone has had any success using something already created before I have to break out my Magyver skills...lol.
Hey..I lived in Port Orchard, Wa. Know where that is? I was just talking to some friends of mine here at work about how pretty Washington is.....Pretty darn wet, Pretty darn cold...lol. j/k.

Why couldn't someone take a standard x50v cradle and build an extender for the port so it sticks up a little higher? There are so many people that have metal cases and have to remove their pdas b/f syncing that I'm surprised nobody has done this.

Office Depot has cup holder stand that you can use on any flat surface. I'm going to get soon myself, it goes for $29. BTW, it's made by Belkin.

The CD tray on your PC would work, too! LOL

HA!! I was sitting at my desk here at work and it hit me like a ton of bricks! Here's my solution: I get one of those cheap universal PDA car mounts that can be attached to the windshield. Then I can either "stick" the pedestal to my desk somewhere out of place. The arm will definitely be able to hold it high enoough off of the surface to give the charging/synch cable clearance. If it doesn't stick I can use one of those plastic disks that can be attached to the desk with some double stick tape or another type of adhesive.

Anything here would work: http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.php

Looking over the replies to this post, I see heepdriver mentioned something similar, if not exactly what I was talking about. I'm not sure how the cup holder would work w/ the cable sticking out the bottom of the holder. I guess I'd have to go to officedepot.com and surch for it. That's what I'll do next.

I have an old universal arkon powered mount and 14" arm that I used w/ my X5. I'll try this out when I get home. If it works, I'll get another universal mount that isn't as bulky as the powered mount. I'll also post pictures as well.

Found the cup holder mount. http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...57992&&An=text

I can definitely see how this would work. I guess my idea wasn't so original after all. Oh well, whatever works. Great find heepdriver!

Magnum PDA mount

Ok, I used my old powered mount and it's working great w/ my Magnum mount. I couldn't find any place on my desk that would hold the mount securely using the suction cup, so I just used the window next to my desk. The only pedestal I have is 14 inches long. This is probably too long, but works for now. I saw a cheap universal mount on ebay that I'll probably pick up for less than $15 shipped. So far so good. Hope this helps someone else out!

Thanks Gigi. It would need a mod or two to be able to use the charge cord but should be pretty do-able.
