X51 off-brand batteries
Does anyone use an off-brand (not Dell) battery in their X51? If so, how has it worked for you?

I would be interested to know the same thing. I didn't get an extra bettery with my X51 and getting one full price through Dell is expensive. I've seen some very cheap ones through other sites but am always afraid to use aftermarket, third party parts on a gadget like this, especially a battery. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

many, many people do. there are many kinds. the most popular, most trusted, and in my opinion, highest quality is Mugen Power. Lion Battery sells a lot of good batteries http://lionbattery.com

Many people don't like to use off brand because if you use it and it fries or blows up your axim (which can actually hurt YOU) it isnt covered or guarunteed by dell.

Okay, that is interesting. I just went to the lionbattery.com website and they are selling a Dell OEM battery. Would they really have a Dell branded battery or is it a fake?

I have 3 generic batteries for my x51v, and they work great! Everyone says that dell's batteries are higher quality and made in japan, however mine says made in china. Chances are they're coming from the same place anyways.

No, it's not fake. They just sell Dells batteries for cheaper prices usually.

The same Dell battery on dell.com is $49 and it's $24.95 on lionbattery.com. Doesn't make too much sense to me, but oh well! At least I can stick to a Dell battery and pay half price for it if I decide to get a second battery.

2200mah - Ebay $25.00 (including shipping)
label looks so much like the Dell 1100mah you could confuse them except for size.

Works great - over 12 hours periodic usage,
days on standby I assume but the units never off more than 2 hours.
over 5 hours with MP3s - such a deal!

I use Mugen Power batteries in my 4150 and have no complaints.

Li Ion batteries ARE sensitive. I'd be very careful of skimping on price.

Original DELL batteries sell for a lot less in some countries/places, like www.dell.com.hk (sorry can't direct link - select "Handheld" from the dropdowns, then click "Handhelds Accessories" on the left about half-way down the page ) HK$69 = US$8.90 including local delivery, directly from DELL. Notice that the 2200mAh one is 4 times as expensive.
So theoretically it is possible for people to sell the stuff a lot cheaper on eBay and what-not. Question is how do you know these 3rd party sellers do in fact sell the real stuff.

That link is dead. Can you double check that you correctly put it in your post? Thanks.
