Still, it's a start - at least you have a brandname to look for, and the descriptor codes. It doesn't say if it's stereo out or not (the 2.5mm one), but it does indicate that it's 'for your favorite 2.5mm headset', so I assume it works for both input and output. Now you can search closer to home for the adapter type.

You're welcome.

Riddle me this...

I have a Microtooth bluetooth headset. I was running MS Voice Command on my Axim (wonderful for use while driving) and it heard my every command, very clearly (didn't respond properly, but I could carry on a nice little dialog with it...).

I started Skype and I could hear the person I called but they heard NOTHING I said... Why can MS VC hear the Mic but not Skype?

Perhaps Skype uses a non-standard interface not compatible with the MS Bluetooth stack? I know a lot of programs have been customized for Widcomm/Broadcom's stack, which means the function calls are useless for the MS one.

What Id like to know is there the Pocket PC equivalent thats alot more compact(Sleek Earplugs with a mike)and delivers the same if not close to same quality that the bigger variants offer?

I know I cant use Bluetooth Headsets :) So Im looking for the best wired type that any of you guys know of or have.

Any feedback would be appreaciated thanks again :)
I found this page at Plantronics, choose headset for Dell, and choose Axim x51v and it will list all the headsets that will work (according to them)

2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter - plantronics

Check

http://www.skccom.com/c-938-headsets-ipaq-headsets.aspx

for the correct 3.5mm male to 2.5mm female 4 conductor adapter. This should allow any of the many 2.5mm cell phone 4 conductor headsets work with the Axim. I know some of the Nokia's use 2.5 mm 4 conductor.

Edit: Nevermind - you wanted a CELL PHONE adapter plug. I don't know if this one will do the job, but it's a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, and notes that 2.5mm headsets are supported.

I should have to be very confused right now. I was under the impression that the only way to use a microphone other than the built in one was to get a bluetooth headset.

I guess my question is how does one go about getting the Axim X51v/X50v to work with an external microphone? Could I plug in a standard desktop microphone and use it/the built in speaker (this is not ideal, I know, I'm just wondering)? Does the Axim automatically detect that you have a microphone plugged in? Are there any mods I need to install to get one of the above headsets working?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to the whole Skype thing.. I've also been out of the Pocket PC arena for about a year. I've been using an old X5 Basic that I had back when I joined, but now I've ordered an x50V and it should get here by Wednesday.

You need to use an adapter to use an external mic. See the links on the first page for more info.

Any other adapters

Hi everyone...

I've read this whole thread and I need urgent help. I'm using Axims for a research project that involves using standard 2.5mm headsets. I purchased several of the Plantronic adapters (http://www.skccom.com/p-6477-ipaq-35...t-adapter.aspx) and these worked fine, but I need more immediately and they are on backorder for weeks.

Does anyone know another adapter that will do the same thing?

I looked at the adapter from pc-mobile (http://www.pc-mobile.net/ax50.htm), but that seems to be mic only and I need it to work as a headset (mic and speaker).

I'm really in a bind here. If anyone has any information that would help, please let me know.

Thanks,
jonathan
