I have had the Skype beta loaded for about a week now and I am fairly pleased with it. It works as well as the PC for both Skype and Skypeout calls but the indicators for who is online aren't always accurate. Sometimes it is very slow to sign in and I don't always get the different symbols for Skype and Skypeout contacts (they are all the same). The menu choices are not as comprehensive but it is still very useable and I guess it will be better when it comes out of beta.

I have used it as well, on a x51v. It is passable not great, not terrible.
Remember to invert your axim when talking as the mic is at the top of the unit. For what it is, I think it works well. Too much I see people complaining about the level of things without considering the price.
Skype is free, allowing me to spend 15-20 minutes on the phone to my mate in OZ, (I'm in UK) on HIS MOBILE, for 4 or 5 Euros, is well worth the odd "What?, say again?"
A bit crackly, but with a WiFi system at home you have a cordless, cheap international phone.
I have Skype but no friends with Skype lol. Though I tried it with my own PC and X51v. Worked great. Sound quality of the microphone is better than my PC's.

Lots of Aximsite friends to call though :) ...check out the Skype usernames thread:
I think skype was pretty good on my x51v, but sometimes my friends complains that they can't hear what I'm saying.
Does anyone know if I can use a headset with microphone on the x51?
Welcome to Aximsite!
You did not mention if you wanted a wireless or a wired headset. There is currently no BT headset profile in WM5 so wireless would not be an option. However, Seidio makes a good wired option: take a look at the review
here. Seidio and PC mobile also have some adapter options if you are interested in using your own headphones/mic.

Thanks alot! :)
I found some sites that offer BT headsets which they claim are compatible with the x51v. I find that strange since you say there is no profile. Do you think it will come?
Anyways, I guess I will go for the wired option. The PDA is quite portable anyways :approve:
Cant developers make their own drivers and get Microsoft to sign it? Or does the process work? I think it might be possible for hardware company to make their BT headets work with WM5, just have to create their own drivers or else maybe a 3.5mm stereo BT adapter.
