Car Mount
I need a car mount for my axim x51v. I need one that won't fall, very secure anotherwords. Anyone have any suggestions? I have an arkon that came with my bt gps, but that one is very scary. It can fall at any time off of the vent...

Thanks...

Not many mount makers out there. The only other option if you did not like the Arkon design, you can check out Seidio mounts. That's what I use. The G2500 or G4500 should fit you. They are custom fit to the PDA.

Check out
Pro-fit International they make a lot of vehicle-specific mounting solutions for PDAs, cell phones and the like. They may have a model for your car that mounts permanently to the dash. Much better than the silly vent mounts. The pro-fit mounts have a standard backplate that will allow you to then install the seidio or other holders that are designed for the Axim.

What makes the Sedio expensive is the powered options and integrated GPS. If you just want a generic mount because you already have a car charging cable and bluetooth GPS then you don't need all that stuff.

Hi, I'd highly recommend the Brodit range of mounts. Not the cheapest - but a great product - The brodit clip attaches around the vent and provides a completely secure attachment (without damaging your car) goto http://www.brodit.com/ - Don't forget you need the clip and mount !!

Cheers

Nice post Techie-1! Great mounts! I have a MB and like the "secure look." Quite similar to my cell phone mount!

Welcome to aximsite!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've also got the Brodit Clip and mount for my Mobile Phone - works just as well, clips to the side of my centre console (not vent). They also do a Bluetooth GPS Receiver mount - I don't use this so can't comment on quality.

I would see if you can modify your current mount with a new attachment for the car. I had one that I modified from having a suction cup to being screwed into the floor by removing the suction cup part and attaching a flexible gooseneck.

My vote is for proclip at http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...oryid=&p_year=

They also carry a large and varied assortment of mounts

Techie-1,
Just wondering if this mount supports the Extended Battery for the X50's? Looks like this may be what I'm looking for.

Thanks.
