TO Keyboard/Mouse and Wifi
Ok, this goes out to all that own the TO mouse and Keyboard or anyone that may have a solution to this. Whenever i am using the TO keyboard and mouse i notice that at odd times i will lose my wifi connection for like a second or two. This only happens when i'm using the keyboard and the mouse and also when i just use the keyboard itself. Now, i'm pretty sure this isn't supposed to happen as the bluetooth shouldn't affect my wireless signal. I've already updated to the latest drivers for both the mouse and keyboard. This is turning out to be an issue as when i'm on msn, its a pain to have to reconnect even though the connection is just dropped for like a second or two, Just wanted to know if anyone with this combination is experiencing problems like this. Thanks all.
Kevin

You might want to check out the this thread (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=102558). They are having discussions about possible culprits.

I am using the TO BT setup and have no problems at work to surf the web. wifi syncing is very flakey however.

Theres definitly good information in that link. However one of the things that wasn't mentioned was the brand & model of the wireless router. Many of the big names, Linksys in particular use Open-Source firmware. Normally this means nothing to the average user, but in this case it means that third-parties have full access to the source code for the firmware. This allows groups (private and public) to write their own modified firmware that is based very closely off the original.

The Linksys WRT54G wireless router is a perfect example. With third-party firmware you can control the power being outputted by the antennas which would be a cheap (free) and easy way to boost the signal, thus drowing out interfearing networks. Another trick is to change the channel the wireless network is running on. Going with 1, 3, and 11 is recomended, channel 6 is usually the default.

I'm not sure why you would use channel 3 since it overlapps the signal on both channel 6 and 1 (two that are commonly used) and overlapping signals will cause interference and a loss of connection. BT does use the same frequency as WiFi so I would expect changing the channel could make the problem less likely.

I use the mouse/keyboard setup and that really isn't the problem. Wireless, mouse and keyboard function together, with out a hitch. The mouse is sensitive to the surface it is on, that's the only issue. It is the wireless connection that seems to be the problem.

I too, have had to change channels at both the office and home. The office shows 8 or 9 active wireless ssids. urgh! (I just looked and 14 networks are showing up on WIFOFUM -- Seems like we should all get together and make a stronger, more secure setup, but I guess that would be another thread.) Most are on Channel 6, a few are channel 1. I have changed mine to channel 11. It seems to be fairly stable, although the signal is not particularly strong. Lots of walls with lots of metal bookcases.

But, microwave usage causes problems every time. At the office it is not too bad, I'm using a buffalo access point. At home, I'm using a netgear WGU624. I don't really nead all the features and they seem to get in the way when using in a mixed mode setup - airport on a mac, one dell cabable of an 801a connection, and the ax with the 801 b connection, as well as several wired computers. Again the killer is the microwave. Using the microwave while connected totally messes up the connection. but now that I know, it's a lot easier to keep up and running most of the time.
