Okay, I've received my headphones. And they are simple enough to use with the dongle and they sound great with the axim (using the dongle). I'd say they sounded better with my axim than with my newly acquired 3rd gen ipod. I've tried both the HP BT drivers and the PDA2k BT drivers and I can't get them to detect any profiles from the headphones. I hit the logitech button for 3 seconds so that the blue LED lights up and try to see if it detects anything on my axim...nothing. I guess I will have to wait for crash's guide to see what I did wrong. I'm not dissatisfied with it because it still works with the dongle so I'll keep it. It wasn't too expensive so it's worth it.

Hey Crash:
Can't wait to see your instructions. I upgraded to WM5 on my x50v and I'm hating it. Thinking of rolling back. I'm thinking of picking up the Ht820's and hope to have everything work.
Thanks,
Wil

can't get the HP driver to install. I keep getting an error "unable get device features" anybody else having this problem? It says that No Pocket PC was detected even though activesync is up and running fine. PLEASE HELP. I can't even get the headset to work with the dongle, but I have been playing with the settings, so I'm sure I screwed something up. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

It Works with laptop and x51v(kinda)
I comes with an adapter to adapt to any stereo pug so it plugs into the x51v. This will have to due until Dell releases the upgraded support for bluetooth headphones. It sounds great but does not control next and previous.
It does work great with my x300 laptop with appropriate control of volume and next/prev. Great buy. Great sound (for bluetooth). Easy to use.
I say good deal.

To get it to work with the dongle, plug the dongle in any 3.5mm stereo headphone or line in jack and then press and hold the logitech button on the headphone for three seconds until you see the blue light blink. After that, press and hold the button on the dongle (that you presumably connected to the axim's headphone jack) for three seconds until it turns red. When you let go of the button, it will begin to blink blue and you will start to get sound out of your headphones. You won't be able to control the forward/back media buttons on the headphones, but it works perfectly on my 3rd generation ipod.

I havnt heard anyone complain about skipping with these BT headphones yet so i'm gonna assume they don't which is great...but that just makes me wonder why the Moto HT820's would skip even if its installed using the same BT stack people are running the Logitech iPod headphones off of. Is it just dependent on the type of headphone?

Well, so far, I'm using it with the dongle only. I haven't tested it by pairing it with the axim itself. I'm thinking the axim doesn't have the memory/processing power to output stereo through bluetooth which results in skipping. As long as you use the dongle (which I've used with my ipod, computer and axim) it will sound great. The bass sounds a lot better coming from my computer and axim. Pairing it with the ipod doesn't sound as good.

Rough draft of tutorial
here is a rough draft of the tutorial.. Please feel free to comment and ask questions for anything unclear. it will help me with the final tutorial. i will polish it up, and add pictures, and submit it to Chris for the tutorial page.
it actually looked alot better in Word when i wrote it with proper indntation on all the bullets... but hey, like i said, this is a rough draft :)
1) The first thing you need to do is remove all Paired devices a) To do this, simply click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and open select Bluetooth manager, from there click TOOLS --> paired devices.
b) Use the remove button to remove any devices shown
2) Soft reset
3) Locate the file pda2k_broadcomcorp_btupdate.cab on the internet. Google search it.
4) Install pda2k_broadcomcorp_btupdate.cab on your PDA a) Copy it to an SD card or copy to main memory using activesync
b) Double click on the file in explorer, on the PDA, to run it. 5) Soft reset
6) Locate the file Broadcom 1.6.0 0600 Updated.rar a) un-rar the file and copy contents to the PPC windows/ directory i) RAR is a compression format like ZIP. Do a search if you need a program to open this file on your computer b) With you PDA connected to activesync .. Click the explore button.
c) Navigate to the windows directory.
d) Copy the contents of the Broadcom 1.6.0 0600 Updated.rar to that directory 7) When you perform step 6 the files btceavif.dll and bttrayCE.exe will not copy because they are in use. a) What I did was.
i) Copy the 2 files to an SD card
ii) Re-boot in safe mode (must have pocket plus installed)
iii) To re-boot in safe mode press the reset button.. Wait about 2 seconds and press it again. This tricks the SPB program into thinking that the re-boot didn’t work, and it offers you the option to boot into safe mode. This keeps most drivers from loading and gives you a complete blank today screen
iv) Once in safe mode you should be able to replace the 2 files with no problems. If you want, copy the originals somewhere else first. Just incase :)
b) What I heard also works (no need for pocket plus)
i) Turn off Bluetooth
ii) Go to windows\startup on your PDA and remove the BTCETray.lnk (this will keep it from loading after soft reset ( you might want to copy this *.lnk to another directory, so you can replace it once you are done.
iii) Soft reset
iv) Find the 2 files btceavif.dll and bttrayCE.exe in the \windows directory of you PDA
v) It will not let you write over them, but it will let you rename them.
vi) Re-name them btceavif.dl_ and bttrayCE.ex_ or something that you will remember
vii) Copy the files that you stored on your SD card to the \windows directory
viii) After a soft reset you can delete btceavif.dl_ and bttrayCE.ex_ if you want.
ix) Replace the BTCETray.lnk that you copied to another directory. 8) Soft reset
9) In BT manager Find HP Headphones and pair them with password "0000" a) That is 4 zeros.
b) To do this you need to hold down the round button on the headphone for approx 10 seconds.
c) At this point the headphones will alternate red and blue blinking
d) It is in discoverable mode
e) On the PDA go to Bluetooth manager
f) Click new
g) The first option should be High Quality Audio setup
h) Choose that --> next
i) It will find the headphones “BT-Headphones” choose them --> next
j) The two will pair and you will be asked to put in the 4 zeros
k) Save the shortcut
l) You should now be connected 10) To re-connect a) Just turn on your headphones
i) Hold the round button for approx 3 seconds
ii) Go to Bluetooth manager and press and hold the “high quality audio on BT-Headphones” icon
iii) Choose connect

Thanks crash613!! The 10 second button press on the headphones (Discovery mode) was the missing link for me. The BT Browser could see them, but they provided no services for discovery (error message) until I did this - I didn't see this in the instructions that came with them. I can now use them without the adapter and control TPCMP (Betaplayer) completely!! Wooo Hooo!! I guess I can permenently plug the adapter into the TV at home for those late nihgt movies. ;-)
Thanks again.

For some reason I can't rename the file BTTrayCE in the windows directory. I have tried through file explorer, activesync explorer and via my computer. I can't move, rename, or delete these. I can however copy them but that doesn't do me any good when I try to replace them. By this step (step 7bv) I have 2 BTTrayCE files. I thought I really messed something up, so I did a hard reset and followed the directions again and the same thing is still happening. I even tried using pocket plus. Keep this up and somebody might get a good deal on some BT headphones. Anyway... anybody else having this problem or is it just me? PLEASE HELP!

Same here. The missing link for me was the discoverable mode.
If you have MemMaid, you can end the BtTray.exe process and not have to remove it and put it back in. I didn't have to delete my previous paired items either, but maybe some of you have to. But the rest of crash's guide is crystal clear.
One thing though, does AVCRP work for any of you? I can't control the previous/next tracks. If it doesn't work by default then I don't have a big problem with it. If there's extra steps to get AVCRP, please advise. Also, I notice I hear slight static noise when using Windows Media Player 10, but when I use GSPlayer, it sounds crystal clear.
Another thing, I notice GSPlayer skips (but doesn't crash) when I press D-pad up or down. I also can't adjust the volume except on my headphones once I pair with the headphones (I guess that's normal).

I'm not familiar with the term AVCRP..... I can control TCPMP (play, pause, next & last track, vol up & down) but only vol up & down in Media Player 10. I don't have GS player installed. Is AVCRP a feature set or a program?
Edit: Nevermind - I see it is a feature set the headphones support. http://www.robertwebbe.nl/extendedA2DP.html
