Logitech BT Headphones - fully functional with x50 $39 AR

Hello all. I found these bluetooth Logitech ipod headphones from a deal site and purchased them, figuring that if I couldn't get them to work with my Axim, I'd just pass them along to my wife to use with her iPod. For the price, they were a steal either way.

Well, using these HP BT headphone driversthey work perfectly with the Axim x50v, and you don't have to use the BT adapter! I mean perfectly, as in not only do they connect without trouble, sound phenominal, BUT THEY ALSO ALLOW YOU TO CONTROL THE MEDIA PLAYER!! This last one I never expected, because they're designed to control a device (the ipod) that I assumed would have a proprietary interface. But you can pause, play, forward, reverse, skip, the media player in addition to controling the volume. Look into it if you're interested in a set of great sounding, fully functional BT headphones for your x50.

Great find!!! The only problem is that I'm a big guy at 6'4 and they usually won't fit!

Have you "upgraded" to WM5, or is your X50v still using the good stack from WM2003SE?

DSmith, lol, I'm sorry to hear that.

I think I understand now why the ipod-specific logitech headphones allow you to control the media player in an Axim. HP licenses the same headphones from logitech for use with the ipaq PDA. Their drivers interpret the pause/play/forward/reverse signals from the logitech headphones exactly as if they were being emitted by the HP headphones, as hardware wise they're likely identical. The drivers, in turn, though made for the iPAQ, are probably generic enough to work with any 2003 device running MS media player. Pretty lucky for us!

I'm using the "good" stack from WM2003SE. From what I understand, WM5 currently doesn't support the A2DP profile, which is necessary for headphone usage.

apurvab,

That is a KILLER deal!! Too bad they don't have the black ones on sale with the rebate.... Oh well, I ordered them anyway - thanks for the heads-up, you saved me a bundle.

I'm in for one. I'll be scouring the forum for those bluetooth drivers in a week or two when it arrives. Though I might be scared that since these are ipod specific, they might not work at all with my axim. Someone please advise!

Okay...after looking at some reviews, I noticed the bluetooth dongle that plugs into the ipod has that extra chip thing that sticks out. I fear that the headphones will only be able to pair with the dongle so I'm going to cancel my order and see the results of other users here who try to pair without the dongle. I know the original poster said it works, but from what I understand, he doesn't even have it yet or something... Someone confirm!

The bluetooth transmiter wont work, it needs to connect to a special connector thats available on the ipod to supply it with power.

The only way to get these headphones to work is by installing the HP driver on a 2003 system with the Broadcom bluetooth software. If you have WM5 on a device from Dell you will have to wait till they relase the AKU 2.0 update which will have the required profile.

this is AVRCP
unfortunately, it supports ONLY wmp (for me, in Dell I6000)
I wish AVRCP can also support winamp
