The USB cable I have is from Dell and will sync my X51V as well as charge it (while the unit is in the off position and attached). During the sync it will also allow through activesync explorer to see your mobile device as well as any SD or CF card that is installed. The transfer to these cards while slower than using a dedicated USB card reader will get the job done in time.

You can do this with card export. I really have no clue about the WM5 stuff but really it would be alot faster to carry around a card reader and your axim as the axim does only USB1.1 but hardly reaches that speed (12Mbps) accessing cards.

I tested my USB cable (the one include in box from Dell). It will not charging the Axim at the same time unless you connect the USB cable with the charger. The calbe itself only has sync function, which allow you use it as a external drive.

I think only some third party USB cable, e.g. the belkin one, will do the charge and sync at same time.

No you are incorrect. The Dell cable will charge the unit but the unit must be turned off and plugged in. the power button will show a charging is taking place on my unit when plugged into my USB connection on my notebook, but again this only takes place when I turn my unit off while plugged in. The description of the cable from Dell is USB Sync/Charge Cable.

The USB Sync/Charge cable I have is from Dell directly (not a third party). I purchased it along with an extra battery when I purchased my X51V from Dell.

Yes, you are right, it will charge when the power is off.
But it seems he want sync and charge at the same time, so the dell one will not work. for this purpose, the belkin cable will be the choice.

Not trying to flame any one but since the syncing process takes so little time I assumed it did not matter that during that process the unit was not charging. It does charge the unit if you leave it in but turn the unit off. With that said your point is well taken, and I will leave it at that.
