Cameras

What type of camera add on would you advise for the AXIM 51V?

I have been reading about the Flycam and Pretec but both
seem to be CF Type 1, and I think the Axim is CF 2? So that
wouldn't work, correct? Any other options or opinions? I realize
I am not going to get a great resolution cam, but I do want
something I can take an occasional pic with.

Thanks for your opinions.

The Axim's CF slot can take either Type I or II. The Veo Photo Traveler works with the X51:

Axim is CF Type I (CF1) and Type II (CF2)
(If you can use CF 2 then you can use CF1, not the other way round)

So any camera that uses Compact Flash can be used with the Axim,
as well as any camera that uses SD.

Also there are adapters for
SD to CF
XD to CF
4 in 1 CF adapters (SD, MMC, SmartMedia, MemoryStick)
I think that covers every media format used in cameras (except film )

So to answer your question... Find the camera you like, go look
for an adapter if it isn't SD or CF 1 or 2... They'll work
:approve:

One of the reasons I bought the Axim in the first place was
the compatibility with the digital cameras.. :exc:

PS - I'm talking a real camera not a plug in toy with low quality and resolution.
The above holds for the plug in cameras FITTING into the Axim and connecting. It doesn't apply to the software needed to run a plugin camera.

I use a Fuji S2PRO (6.2mp or 12.3mp depending on who you believe) and the
Resco photo viewer, they work great together.

Yeah there are no good SD/CF cameras, they're all old technology from like early/mid 2004 and noly have 1.3mp sensors. Your best bet is to get a real digital camera that uses SD or CF and load up your pictures on the axim for viewing.

I have the VEO sd cam. Works ok. Only 1.3 mp. Oh..and there is no flash so indoor pics suck. It's a neat little gadget, though. I bought mine off of tancerman here on aximsite. Take a look at his "my pda" for pics of the cam.

The SD version works for the aximX51? Why did I think the sd one is for palm OS only?

I am more confused now than when I began this thread,

Which camera's are functional in an Axim 51V?

From there I can do the followup research and the shopping around.

Thanks to all

I bought the Veo Phototraveler for my x51v off of ebay yesterday for $26.00.

Figured for the price it was worth trying out.

A previous poster mentioned that the cf card was too short for the Axim, but that was the old version of the camera (over a year ago) and has been corrected.

I'll post a quick review here when I receive it and try it out.

as I undrstand it, the VEO phototraveler CF camera is
the one with the lower resolution correct? like .3?
and the VEO SD is 1.3?
