bluetooth headset issue
I just recieved my first axim from my new company and so far it has been really great. I got the x51 model and it has a lot of nice features. However i need to use it for voice recording and i was wondering what the status was of the bluetooth headset issue. my company is looking for the best device to do the recording with but i need to report any short commings that it might have. All of the posts that i found were from last year october november timeframe and i was looking for something more current. thanks in advance.

The status of the bluetooth headset issue hasn't changed since they started selling the X51. It could be paired but sadly no services can be discovered from the bluetooth headset. AudioGateway and A2DP are supported by AKU 1.1 but Dell just didn't implement it. The crippled Microsoft bluetooth stack still remains the same after two ROM updates. No one knows when this issue will be resolved. It all depends if Dell plans to implement them with AKU 2.0 on the next ROM update.

Welcome to Aximsite!

The status sadly remains the same; you cannot pair any BT headset/headphone to the X51 because WM5 lacks the appropriate profiles. My suggestion would be to look at wired alternatives. There are wired headsets available from Dell and Seidio. Seidio and PC-mobile also make adapters that allow you to use your own mic/headphones.

Moved to Accessories.

Weird, Disturbed5683. You have 3 posts in a row, but your postcount is at 2. Hmmm! I wouldn't worry about that, it's obviously a glitch in the system, server-side.

As for the BT headset question, have you thought about getting a BT heaset that comes with a BT transmitter dongle, then dropping the dongle when (assuming) MS/DELL get with the program and offer an updated BT stack with the required profiles.
Alternately, look for a BT headset that offers BT drivers that support WM2005.

I had thought about the dongle but for now its not that big of a deal. I just had to buy a new car so i can no longer afford any toys for my axim. but the car is cool. I just wish they would fix this issue. You would think that it would be a top priority given the amount of complaints they get about it.
