Powered Car Mount from ProClip
Hi guys,

ProClip has finally made their powered holder for the Axim x50/51. It's not in the states yet, but should be here within a couple weeks. It'll most likely retail for $69.99, but I can get it for you for $59 with reduced shipping. The complete solution would be $84 and include the dash mount for your specific car. They don't yet have the one for a fixed install, just the cigarette lighter version. I'll add a powered mount solution to my website since they are becoming more popular. One of these days I'll upgrade to a real site. Any questions, let me know. You can email me at crogs571@yahoo.com. Thanks,

Ryan

This looks like the Brodit mount for my Navman PiN 100. It's a very high quality, excellent mount.

Brodit is ProClip actually. And to clarify a few things since some questions have been posed via email. I figure it's better to post it for all to see.

Yes this will work with the extended batteries.

No there is no plugin to charge an external gps. And yes I asked them about it since I'm sure it's safe to assume that 95% of car use is for navigation.

Curious question, though I'm sure there's a better place to ask. If you're only going to use GPS in the car, is there really any disadvantage to using a CF gps where you would only need the one charging cable? I know with bluetooth or something with an external antenna you can mount it closer to a window our outside the car for better reception, but does it make that much of a difference? I haven't dropped the coin for nav yet.

and my website is the link in my sig

also a quick somewhat off topic question. Brodit carries the SysOn GPS products on their home site, and I asked them why they don't carry them through ProClip. Anyone have any experience with the SysOn products? I might be able to offer some competitive pricing if they decide to stock them over here. They're CF GPS is the smallest one out there with the Sirf II chipset. I might be able to sell it under $100 depending on what they retail them for. I'm thinking I might go CF since I'm only using gps for nav in the car.

I've used GPS for almost 10 years now and am presently using a Garmin GPS 12. I've had it in the trunk of a motorcycle hooked to an HP 620 and it worked fine on the open road. Behind my house in the woods I usually can't get a lock onto enough satellites for a reading. This is because of the antennae size. I'm upgrading to a Bluetooth in a month and I'll spring for the external antennae.
