Best Case For Pockets/Drops
Hello.

I am a 5th Grade teacher and am looking to buy a case for my Axim x51v. The two most important features I'm looking for are:

1. Thinness - So I can carry it in my pocket

2. Drop Protection - Just in case....

You can also reply to ken_penfield@fc.mauston.k12.wi.us

THANKS.

I have a rhinoskin aluminum case for my Axim x51 and it seems to fulfill both of your requirements. It is thin enough that it easily fits in a shirt or pants pocket and gives some pretty good drop protection [although that I haven't personally tested out :-) ]

I used to carry a Palm Vx in a quasi-aluminum case, so when I received the Rhinoskin metal case for my 51v, I thought "man this is waaaay thicker!"
But now that I've used it for a while, I barely notice the difference.
I suspect if you dropped it and it hit at just the right angle, it would still break, but I think it's very good protection.

I think that the InnoPocket Magnesium case is supposed to be thinner than the Rhinoskin case and the magnesium is much stronger as well.

If you are looking for leather go for Sena - they are the thinnest, and please remove your email address or at least write it as ken_penfield AT fc.mauston.k12.wi.us so it won't get harvested by spammers...

I have a Sena case. I like it. It is thin and light, but I don't think it is very good for drop protection. (Haven't tried droping it yet.) The bottom corners are exposed so that you can put it in the cradle. Convenient, yes. Protective, no.

I'll add another vote for the Rhinoskin. It's the only case I use for my x50v. I love it.

The Innopocket Magnum case is superb. Very high quality, nice looks. The amzing thing is, it is the same size as the soft case that came with the Axim x51v - except for the very top of the Magnum which is about 1-2mm longer due to the hinge.

It has cutouts for access to the lock and two side buttons as well as the soft reset button in the back and two access holes for the speaker and power light.

My Magnum case can actually fit inside the soft Dell case.

Only downside - obviously won't fit in cradle, and the separate adapter does not fit either unless you file the adapter down a little bit at the edges. It's a tight fit so removing the Axim every day to charge up would be a pain so I'm planning to file down the adapter and charge the Axim in the Magnum case.

Yes, I've had a problem with the rhinoskin...
The hinge pin slips out easily. I have lost two of them.
guess what, you have to purchase another case!!!
