ibiz sd / cf radio
Hi all. I have yet another question.

I am looking to buy one of the Ibiz radios. I know that it doesn't work for windows 2005 (i have 2003 SE and plan to stay that way)

Since they have 2 versions of the radio - SD or CF, I was wondering if people had any experience with either type and could share. How is the reception? Why did you decide on sd or cf? How is the quality of the sound when you have reception?

And I have a parallel question - generally I know that it is used often that the SD card a lot of people put the programs and CF cards are used for multimedia - and I do it too based on the discussions/advice here - but WHY do we do it? speed? because of accessories which fit the CF slot? I just don't remember. (call me a bandwagon junkie! )

Thanks for all your input

Yes, speed. The SD card is faster, so apps installed to it will start faster. The CF is still fast enough to deliver the data for media files, and you can buy larger capacity CF cards (Especially via MicroDrive), so it can accomodate your .mp3 (or .ogg) collection. Also, if you have a MicroDrive, it is a good idea to use a media player that supports MicroDrive mode, such as TCPMP, caching the data and allowing the MD to spin down, saving energy.

Had the CF version with X50 2003SE. Reception and quality were excllent. The only gripe I had with it was the headphone did not use the scoket on the device.

The reason I had chosen the CF version was: (1) It was the only unit I could find; (2) I already had so much data on the SD card and it was a permanent fixture on my device.

Thanks for the fast input! There is a price difference between the sd and cf card radios, so that is why I asked, but my gut was to go with the CF though it was more expensive.

so now I am to either gomogear.com or mobileplanet!

CF costs more? that's strange... I got the CF years ago for free (with rebates) from CompUSA and i like it a lot.

IBIZ SDFM Radio
Hello all,
I purchased this radio in December. I have been unable to get it to work. Any help would be appreciated. Here are the steps I've taken:

1. Installed software from accompanying CD.
2. Uninstalled that software and installed the upgraded software, per an email from tech support.

I can get the program to come up, I just hear no sounds and seem to get no stations.

I'm really getting frustrated. I'd appreciate any help!

I am running this on an X30.

Thanks again!
Mary Ann

IBIZ SD FM Radio
This is VERY strange. I just turn on my Axim to check out the radio again, and when the program came up, the skin was COMPLETELY different and, after plugging in the headphones, it WORKED!!!!

Very odd.... Thanks anyway.

I wonder if it's possible to save radio as MP3 files using that device.
Note that FM radio is very low bandwidth so speed is not much of an issue. And the decoding only involves measuring the frequency every sample period and scaling the result. FM decoding is just plain simple. (Even a 486 can do it.) HDTV, however...
