I currently have the ScreenGuardz on my x50v, and don't really like them - they get dirty way too quickly, and the glare is really a showstopper (I use my Axim in a hospital 90% of the time - glare is worse than bare screen). They also scratch up quickly (~4 weeks)
My idea was to replace it with a Brando anti-glare protector, because the glare reduction and supposed rough-feeling surface sound attractive. However, I worry that for a high-resolution VGA display, the anti-glare might make the screen too grainy (loss of detail should be worse than on QVGA).
Is this a valid concern? Is there anyone who has experience with the regular Brando or Boxwave on a VGA-device? If so, what are your experiences and how do you think they compare to the "Crystal"-guards for indoor usage?
If glare is an issue for you , then Crystal isn't for you. I have the Boxwave anti glare and while they do add a bit of grain, they also improve note taking and handwriting recognition. Because glare is a problem in my train travel use and in car nav, it was a worth while trade off for me.

well I do use my Axim heavily outside, so I don't know if Crystal is not for you. I used anti-glare on my previous PDA and I like Crystal better. But then again they are both fine
Thanks for the replies! Anti-glare is quite important to me, as the lighting in the hospital (where I use the Axim 90% of the time) is very bad glare-wise.
Bagelsnbrew: I assume you still get the beautiful sharpness of the VGA screen, even with the anti-glare model? The last thing I want is my VGA-screen look like semi-QVGA. Have you tried the Crystal, too?
Jukov: how do you like the feel of anti-glare vs Crystal?
Thanks again. Just want to prevent spending another $12 on the wrong guard ;)
well anti-glare has more paper-ish feel which is nice if you are using handwriting recognition, while crystal is just like the glass (unrecognizable)
edit: personnaly I like the crystal better , çause it's like having no screen protector at all - visually. Sometimes the anti-glare may be to visible when under indirect sunlight, because of the grainy properties of the sheet, but I must also say that I wasn't using the best quality sheet, so...
All things being equal, I'd rather use the crystal version too and if I lived, worked and commuted in light controlled conditions I would. Unfortunately, glare is a problem for me and the slight degradation of the anti glare is better than periodic total degradation. I haven't tried Crystal, but I have used shiny clear protectors and while they protect the screen, glare is still a problem. While I do notice the anti glare protector, I wouldn't say that it makes my VGA screen look like QVGA

Doesnt Anti-glare reduce a bit of viewing angle as well? The crystal is much clearer and thats the one I use. No problem viewing it outside, just gotta tilt and adjust.

With my Boxwave crystal, this is exactly the case. At first, I thought the "scratched up" was a defect... but now I'm not so certain (also considering that this is my second one!!).
With my old Antiglare screen protector, it took a year (and a damaged stylus) to cause ANY scratches on the thing and it only scratched where the close X is on the screen (I hit there a ton, I suppose). Here is my question... is an antiglare screen protector more durable than a crystal?
