Headphones = headset!
I thought everyone knew about this, but was told that I should share this anyway.
As everyone knows Axim uses the "large" headset jack while almost all cellular headsets use smaller jacks. That leads to the situation when you need two headsets or a clumsy adapter.
However almost everybody owns a pair of miniature headsets for music, etc. with the "larger" jack that fits the Axim's socket.
If you travel with such a set of headphones, you do not need any headset al all.

You will be using the fact that any headphone ALREADY IS A MICROPHONE (the opposite is not always true). While keeping one of the headphones attached to your ear, attach another one somewhere in front of you (I use the "hook" that suppose to go behind my ear to hang it on my shirt pocket). You can also experiment with just both headphones attached to your ears - most of the miniature headsets pick up your voice quite good in that position also. I am not talking about large headphones with sound isolating soft pads here - they obviously would not work if you put them on. They will, if you keep one next to your ear using your hand and left another hang in front of you and allowing thus for it to pick up your voice.
It does not matter which one you use as a headphone and which - as microphone. People who are not familiar with electronics usually have hard time believing these things, so - try it!

Alex.

I tested your theory ...find that my X51V built in mic is so hi-sensitivity that I can wear the both earbub & built in mic. still works. ( just because we are not far from it most of the time) ...

and then I tried blocking/covering it and tried your method ... it doesn't work.

so now ... I just use my earbub (both pieces) ... and talk normal...and the built in mic. still works

I have to admit that in this case you are absolutely right and that is because Axim did something strange with their headset jack. Normally after a male connector is inserted it switches off internal speakers and mikes. Axim does switch off its speakers, but not the mike.
However if you have a laptop without build-in mike (that has both headphones and mike input connectors you can test this and see that a headphone can be used as a microphone.

Another interesting thing - I did the same tests with my headset and I also discovered that the headset's mike was not actually working - that all the time it was the buil-in mike!. Can anyone who has "official" DELL headset confirm this? All you need to do is to connect your headset and try to record an audio note with the buil-in mike covered by your finger and listen to the results. If your headset mike is workin that should not make a difference, but if its your built-in mike that picks up the signal you should hear very faint recording.

you are correct. an earphone is a crude microphone. won't perform nearly as well but you can get away with it.

the only problems here are that the Axim requires the use of a powered microphone not a passive microphone which your ear phone bud or the like is and you need the use of a 4 ringed jack not 3.

4 rings - ground - left - right - mic
3 rings - ground - left - right

you can probably bypass this with a partially inserted jack but it can stress and damage the contacts/spring over prolonged usage. Plus it won't be a solid contact.

My question is this...
If I am buy the Logitech BT Headphones
Thread --> http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=116598

And I have the G1 Chi Mei Compact Flash Card for using with T-Mobile

Will I be able to use the BT Headphones as a BT headset.
Even if I have to hold the axim in my hand to use the built in mike its ok.

I already have the G1 Chi Mei Compact Flash Card and it has a wired headset. I have not been using it because I do not want to carry wired headphones and wired head set.

regards

Actually, it's gnd - mic - left - right on a 4 circuit plug.

Biovirus is basically using the earpiece as a dynamic mic. In order to do this on the x50, you can't push the earphone plug in all the way. That way, one of the earphones will connect to the mic circuit. Unfotunately, because the earphone is a low impedance, it may not disable the internal mic circuit.
