Axim X51v A06 ROM + Socket CF Modem = ???
I have just bought brand new Socket CF Modem off eBay (the modem came in a factory sealed package). The modem's revision is E and, according to Socket's website information, it should work just fine with Axim X51v. But it does not... Axim simply does not recognise the card, when it's inserted. The following message appears: "Unrecognized card <...> Unknown card in Socket 1", and, of course, Axim does not show CF modem in a list of available devices. I have downloaded and installed the very latest drivers from Socket website (designed especially for Windows Mobile 5), this did not help. Any suggestions? Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Is it one of the new blue coloured Socket modems or an older black one (with or without lights)?

I have all three types. The one I cannot get to work with a WM5 x51 (ROM A05) is the older black colour modem that has three lights on it.

HP/Compaq modems are detected fine as well BTW.

This message also appears with a faulty modem or bent pins in the CF slot. Hopefully not in this case.

Yes it's the black colour modem that has three lights on it... I talked with Socket techsupport guys and finally they gave me an RMA number to send the modem for repair or replacement. I hope everything is fine with CF slot pins because CF memory cards wotk just fine.

If other CF devices work I don’t think there is any need to panic. Just get a torch and have a look if you are worried.

Are they providing you with a new blue modem? The three black modems with lights on I have work fine in my x50, but are unrecognised cards in my x51.
