Sweeeeet! logitech IPod headphones
Just received my replacement headphones for the logitech mp3 headphones that cracked. The mp3 headphones are the ones without next and previous controls. I just received the ipod headphones (the ones with controls) as my warranty replacement. Didn't even have to send the others back. Now I figure I'll have at least four more replacements based on a credit card extended warranty, but at least for now and at the gym, I'm a pretty happy camper.

They appear to be plastic enshrouded unit, complete with dongle so we'll give 'em a whirl after work.

EDIT: Package did not include a charger, so I really don't know what kind packaging it really is. Certainly, not the full retail one.

These are the same as have been discussed as the logitech mp3 and the logitech for iPods. I suspect they are getting phased out because of the faulty headband and new sleeker models being offered by other companies. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...0&ad=AMR_wipod You can now find these for about 45.00 USD.

I will certainly comment on any differences between these the earlier ones.

How long did it take for them to send it to you after you faxed them your receipt and reference number?

I only spoke to them through their non toll free tech support number. (Thank goodness for cell phone minutes). It took 8 calender days from the phone call to receiving them.

As an update to the phones. They are a light grey plastic and seem narrower than the logitech for mp3s. I'm thinking that they are going to be even more prone to breaking, especially if you have a "large-ish" head. I may try one of the reinforcing tricks. Interesting side note, the packaging says these have a 2 year warranty!

They sound very good, no pops and very clear. I'm worried that as more stress is put into the band, this sound will deteriorate. Since I didn't have the controls before, I am having to reinstall the BT updates to get them. I hope it works, or I may be scouring aximsite for the step by steps!

Any chance you would be willing to part with the broken pair?

I'm tinkering around with them to see if there is a strengthening fix that makes sense. I'll keep you posted.

Let me know as well...
I just called Logitech myself a few days back cause my ipod headphones cracked (the headband) and they're sending me replacement set as well... apparently they had some shipping backlog that will take a while for them to get here... but once they do it should be all good...

I'm worried the new ones will pop as well... but i heard Logitech updated they're bands to new ones cause they were all cracking... hopefully they send me a pair with the new band... :S

P.S. You don't have to send the old ones back?? NICE i managed to pickup some silicone (white car silicone) and put them back together, and so far so good... i'm thinking of just getting rid of the headband and making them portable like the sony ones that are approx he same size and just sit on the ears... be a little harsher on the ears, but a few hours at a time shouldn't be a problem.

btw, how do you store your headphones? i'm trying to find a case or someting i can put them in since they seem so delicate and i don't just want to toss them in my bag

Well, when they weren't broken, I would just wear them on my neck when I wasn't using it.

I was thinking of going the silicon route myself so we can compare techniques. Unfortunately the replacements are not the new design, if anything they feel stiffer than the first set, so I'm not very hopeful for their life span.

I haven't found a way of storing the headphones. I leave them charging most of the the time and then slip them on my neck and bring them up to my ears. afterwards, they generlly get "placed" in my bag. NOT a great solution.

So did anyone figureout a way to keep them from breaking again? case? etc?

I can see a hairline forming on the new ones already... gonna call logitech again on monday to see what's going on with these things, love the headphones, hate the constant cracking!
