Invisible Shield Screen Protector

I just wanted to post my experience with the Invisible Shield available from www.shieldzone.com.

I did some research and decided to get the Invisible Shield. When I received it I read the instructions and went ahead to the installation. Install was very easy despite my expectations. They recommend you leave it sitting for at least 24 hours so it can set, which I did.

So far it's been pretty good. The texture when using the stylus takes a little getting use to especially if you're accustom to using the axim without a screen protector.

I have not used any other screen protectors (this is my first) and so far I'm happy with it.

Some notes when applying:
- Instead of spraying the soap mixture on the back, emerse it in the mixture and shake out the excess water. Just make sure you know which side is the sticky side to go on the screen.
- Get a good flat edge to use as a squeegee. I used one of my credit cards but apparently the card was a little rough so it made a few faint scratch marks on the screen protector (my fault).
- Squeegee from the center outwards making sure to soak up any excess waters.
- Very important - make sure that you put some of the soap mixture on your fingers or you'll leave prints on the screen. I used a pair of disposable gloves and also wet the tips of the gloves so I can handle the protector better.
- When using the hard flat edge to squeeze the excess water make sure the surface is wet.

That's about it. I have to say I'm very happy with it. I may buy another one because I missed up this one by using a rough flat edge but so far I haven't had any issues. I gives me peace of mind because I know the screen cannot be scratched directly or get prints from over usage.

Hope this helps anyone looking to get a screen protector. Any questions post away or send me a PM.

-Mike

I too own this screen protector. I absolutely love it! I bought one after buying one for my Ipod Nano. They are both still completely scratch free. More importantly, the Nano is scratch free and so is my X50v screen. At $11.95 with free lifetime replacements, you can't go wrong. It doesn't take much to get use to the feel. I personally like it. Anyway, I would highly recommend this product.

I still use clear plastice cut to size from a fabric store. This material is .8mm thick, clings to the screen with easy removal. I purchased a square yard of it 5 years ago for less than a buck. Ive used in on my Palm III, T3, T415, T615, Ipaq 4150 (2 of them) and now my X51V with no issues. It can be washed if desired and reapplied. This material is used to cover table cloths but it works great for this purpose also IMHO.

I just intalled mine today. It actually caused a little problem. After application, my pda performed a hard reset everytime I tried to do a soft reset even after restoring from a backup. I knew it must have been caused by water getting in the PDA so I left it by the window for about 2 hours to bake under the sun. Once fully dry, I performed a system restore and now everything is back to normal.

Another thing that I noticed is that immediately after applying the screen protector, the digitizer of the PDA gets screwed up. The PDA would always think that where my stylus is, is half a centimeter away from the actual point. This issue was also resolved after it's tanning session. =)

So I guess just make sure you wipe the excess water up right away before it seeps into the PDA.

As for the feel of the screen, I have yet to decide whether I like it or not. The stylus sticks to the screen every time they touch. This is a good thing if you are fast at typing like I am with fitaly since the stylus won't slip. But if you use handwriting recognition software you might have a problem with this particular screen protector. Doodling definitely takes a bit of effort.

Overall, for $11.95 and with free lifetime replacements, it can't be beat!

I think I owe my last post in this thread an update. Now that the screen prtector on my PDA has truly had time to set, the stylus no longer sticks as much with every press. It is now easier to "draw" things or so to speak with the stylus. Dragging the stylus across the screen is still not as "smooth" as it is with a Brando screen protector or a Boxwave screen protector, both of which I have used in the past.

All together, I am very pleased with my purchase. =)

Those were the ones that I had on my hx4700 before I replaced them with the invisible shield. I guess I just really use my PDA a lot more compared to the average user since I tend go through these screen protectors as if they were the kinds that are sold by the dozen! This one is the third one that I have used for this PDA in the year that I have had it.

The screen protectors aren't that scratched up when I decide to change them. It's just that there are signs of wear on the keys that are used the most when I type with fitaly.

Sticky Screen

I like everything about the invisible shield (fit, no scratches, etc) except that you have to press really hard to get the stylus write accurately. As you drag it, sometimes it hangs and messes the character or scroll bar up. I think I'm going to send it back.

Anyone have any suggestions about a protector that doesn't change the feel very much?

If you want a smooth feel you can get the antiglare or the clear screen protectors from brando of boxwave. I've tried all 4 of these. Their equally good. I'd get whichever is less expensive. I think it's the brando.

Oh, and about the invisible screen, have you had it on for a few days? Now that mine has been on for a couple of days now, it has really set and is OK for me now. It still doesn't have the smooth, natural feel of the other 2 brands that I mentioned earlier but I like it for reasons explained above. =)

I use Brando on my pdas (all are anti-glare), pretty nice, no trace of scratch yet
also I use Armkit on phones
on 6270, without protection, the screen leaves some minor scratch after 3 weeks
on 6680, with Silicon case, found no scratch

You can try NuShield. They are stiff screen protectors and are non-adhesive. They fit over your screen underneath the case and sort of "float" over the top. I have no drag problems at all. In fact, I think they are just like having no screen protector at all. They also are very cheap and one of them lasts me at least 5 months (the one I am using now is over 6 months now).

Plus they are very cheap (only $12 for a minumum of one year's supply). I would highly recommend them. I have used others and these are the best I have ever used. I can't stand the adhesive screen protectors for the very reasons mentioned above. Good Luck to you.:)

Check them out here.
