Supply Power from car ??
Hello

Looking to get a power cable for my Axim x51v for driving using Tom Tom.

The Sync / Charge cables all appear to only work when the device is switched off, which is no good when I am wanting to use it for navigation. When it is turned on, I only get around 1hour - 1.5hours of use as BT is switched on all the time - again not much use if I'm trying to drive for 3 hours...

Is there a Car Power cable which charge while the device is switched on ??

Regards

Rob

Mine works fine with the device switched on.
It's the one Dell supplies with their GPS kit.

The key is to use the power cable (with dongle), NOT the sync/charge cable.

I purchased a cigarette lighter plug with the Axim plug from Ebay and it works great.I think it was about $7.00 including shipping.

WallyWorld carries a 2 amp 6 volt car charger that I use with the dongle that came with the Ax. Just be sure to get one that puts out enough amperage to charge and run the unit. It cost about $14 USD, I think. Also, having the 3300 mAh battery is nice when you are in a friends car and you don't want to drag all the cables with you. I can go up to 10 hrs. on a charge with it.

View MyPDA. I got an auto multi-adapter. it has various settings for voltage and assorted tips. US$10. It works alright for a fully-charged battery when set to 4.8V. You might want to use a 5V regulator and set it for 7.5V. Not for the timid.

Try this mount, 'bout $50 bucks from Seidio.

For $10 bucks get the DC power out cable for your Bluetooth receiver.

Charges both the Ax and receiver while on the road.

Wow, that's an elegant, slick, and professional design. What the hell is wrong with you? Doesn't everybody want a jury-rigged gadget that you have to solder and glue together?

Hi Brain

VEC009 crarger provides up to 200mA only. Is that enough for x51v?

I bought the standard Dell auto power adapter directly from Dell for $12.10. It charges my Axim faster than I can wear the battery down.

Manufacturer Part# F6685
Dell Part #: 310-5767

I must have got mone at a discount, because they're $20 on their site:
