Cases: To extend or not extend
I've had my x51v for about a month now. I got the package with the extra battery, but the standard extra battery would have delayed shipment for a couple days, so I upgraded to an extra extended battery. Now I have one standard and one extended. So my problem is do I get an extended case or standard case. I like having the increased battery life of the extended, but it is bulky and won't fit well in my car mount (sticks out too far to be held tight by the side pads). I really don't want to use the extended back when I'm not using the extended battery. So should I get standard case and remove it when I use extended battery? Should I get extended case so I can use it for both batteries? Or (optimal) are there any cases out there that will accommodate the standard battery, then expand for the extended battery? Of course it would be nice to have all this and be able to sync in the cradle without removing the case. Is this just a pipe dream?

I use a Sena extended case for both my standard and extended battery for my X50v. Works well.

Ive got the Blue/Black Sena Extended case. You can use it for the standard and extended batteries and it still looks great.

If your worried about it looking bulky and hence ugly the Sena extended cases look nice even with a standard battery.

Get the Sena Extended case. Its the optimal solution for you

With the extended you can use both, either just put the regular batt. with the extended cover over it or use a styrofoam shim under the regular batt. cover.

more than one way to skin a cat...
I bought my X51V in Dec 06 and also got the extended battery. No matter how you slice, dice or julienne it, the extended battery will make it larger. But i further complicated my life by getting an otterbox 1900 case for my Ax! This is one extreme case and did not have the ability for the extended battery. However, being in Afghanistan is awfully hard on electronics and the otterbox is the answer. But I digress. How I solved my power problem was getting the Boxwave power pack (http://www.boxwave.com/products/batt...ter/index.htm). While this may not be the smallest power brick on the market, it provided me with minimum 5 full recharges for extended use in the field. As I said, this may not be the perfect solution, but it certainly worked for me. Oh yeah, forget about putting the Ax and the otterbox in your shirt pocket; but the protection level is awsome!

I appreciate all the responses. Sounds like the Sena extended case may be the way to go. Maybe I'll wait a bit to see if they decide to offer an extended version of the Aximsite case.

Kelly - looks like you've not only traveled to Afganistan, but also several months into the future if you got your Axim in December 06 But I digress ... are you saying that you dumped your extended battery for the power pack? I am assuming that you got rid of the extended and now use the power back in conjunction with the standard battery - is that right?
