Axim Silicone skin
Anyone had any experince with the silicone skins for their Axim's. if so hows your experince been? Theres one with a flip up cover I am looking at ... Wonder if one without it and a screen protector would do just as well..

Welcome to Aximsite!

There is a review of the Javoskin here if you want just general impressions. I think having the flip cover is a good idea. A screen protector can protect from scratches, etc. but it doesn't really protect the screen from things digging into it (e.g., keys, books, etc.).

I got mine at Meritline:
http://meritline.com/pda-cover-silic...-axim-x50.html

It seems to work well, comes with a belt clip (which I never use). It doesn't protect the pda as well as a Innopocket magnesium case, but it doesn't cost $40 either. For a cheap case that provides basic protection, I think it was a pretty good deal.

The Meritline one comes with a flip up cover.

Speaking of magnesium case, I also debated that one. but wasn't sure how it worked...Does it hold the PDA in snuggly so if it did accidenty come open it wouldn't just flop out? Cause it looks like if you opened it and held it upside down the Axim would fall out.

*** I have one but its not for an axim, its for palm and it's a speck products one ***

I have a silicon skin with a flip. WORD OF ADVISE get the flip cover one. It takes off like 80% of worries.

the only down side is that it's really hard to put in and pull out of pockets(cause its so grippy) and it collects lint n dust like crazy. a hot water + soap scrub cleans it up like new though.

oh the cool thing I like showing off, if you get flat piece of glass or metal something that's really flat and solid, put you pda on it with the skin and start tilting it to the vertical position, it'll stay right in place right until it's almost vertical.

oh and it looks completely different in real life compared to the photos, alot better

If you are interested in the silicone cases you may also want to check out the one sold by DSI.
http://www.notestation.com/crystalx50.htm

I don't have any personal experience with the silicone case but I do own two of the DSI's aluminum cases and they are fine products, well finished, fit the Axim x50v perfectly with both the standard and extended battery, the neoprene on the interior prevents the Axim from slipping out and from scratches. And they don't cost $40 either

I have a "no-name" version of the silicon case. I bought it to use as part of an armband, workout case and it works pretty well. It cost 10.00 from meritline.com. ( A search isn't coming up with it ) It came with the flip cover, which I don't use when I run and a belt clip, again never used. The lift up cover doesn't latch or catch in any way and is of a rigid scratch prone plastic.

I'm not sure I would like it as my only case, but with a little surgery on the back and a velcro arm band, it runs with me, several times a week.

The magnesium case fits very snuggly. I can't imagine the PDA every falling out. In fact, some folks complain that it takes a bit of muscle to remove the PDA.
