InnoPocket Magnum Case...
My father is getting an Axim to replace his old Treo 90 and he wants a case to protect it. Are there any cons for getting this case that might make him not want it and where can I find the deals for cases.com? I did a quick search for cases.com on the forums, but I didn't see anything nor did I see anything in the Deals areas.
Thanks...

- case will only accept the oem 1100mAh battery. While a beautiful case, if your father ends up wanting more battery life he won't be able to add a larger capacity battery (it won't fit the case - at all).
- this case is a tight fit. Tight enough that taking the axim in and out of the case becomes a real pain.
- if his battery needs are met by the 1100mAh battery, then great. If not, that means that your father will have to approach the runtime issue with creative solutions like battery extenders or battery packs, changing his behavior to reflect increased charging frequencies.
- that means he may have charge with the cradle often or he may have to consider purchasing a usb charge cable and so forth.
- will your father watch movies? Use high-brightness levels? Surf the net often? Listen to mp3's with the axim? GPS? .... basically stuff that uses juice?

I have this case and it's great. Sometimes though I wished there was a Inno mag case that would accept the 1800 or 2200 mAh battery. Maybe even the 3300mAh battery. Once you become more competent with the axim one's battery needs may overcome the 1100mAh capacity.

so do you think that maybe he should go with the cheaper PDair case or perhaps some other hard case which he would be able to listen to music through? (it needs to have a headphone jack opening).

What he's saying goes for all hard cases. I suggest SENA Black/Blue case which I can sell to you if you want (I am selling my Axim also).

just go buy a battery extender. i have the pelican power brick and have had sucess others havn't though(nab one from Radio Shack for $20) or make your own or get one that uses rechargable batteries. plenty of options to make the 1100mah batttery last it gets roughly 3 hours doing idle stuff like mp3s

The Mag case has a cutout on the top so that a headphone can be inserted while the Axim is in the case. Of all the hard cases, I'd say the Mag is the best looking.

If battery life is a concern, and he definitely will be buying a bigger battery, then look at other aluminum cases designed to fit the bigger batteries.

I personally like the flip-up cover for the Mag - most other hard cases flip to the left or right.

It's a great case and I highly recommend it. It's better to grip because the cover flips up.

Actually, on my magnum, it's easier to pull out the axim if I don't hold the case on the sides. It's probably the pressure from my grip that makes it harder to pull out. As for longer battery life, I'm using one of those usb battery packs that take AA batteries. I use the same 2500mAh rechargable batteries that I share with my camera. The battery pack I got also has a built-in white-led flashlight so I feel less geeky carrying it around.

ok...i just got my magnum case, and this may be a really stupid question but...

how do i open the thing? i stuck my axim in, but now i can't flip the thing open. is there a release button? it clamps on so tight, that i'm afraid i'm going to break it if i pull on it harder

Pull up on the plastic tab part... it'll loosen up a bit soon.

It will loosen a bit over time. Don't worry, it's a sweet case. I love this damn thing.

Now, if they had a case that would fit a 1800/2200/or even the 3300mAh battery i'd look at that for sure. The Sena cases are nice too though ...
