Case for In car Use?
After loads of lurking and research I am about to order an x51v - it now seems stable enough and the UK systems are on offer this month! Hopefully it will be a stepchange from my Ipaq 3850! Have to say that I was influenced by this site - way ahead of anything I could find on Ipaqs.

Having used the standard plastic issued case I want to treat myself to a leather one for the Axim.

I want to use the Axim as a nav system in the car. I like look of the Sena but wondered if the flap will stay out of the way, especially if I use a vent mount. The alternative is to have a case which I remove the Axim from-perhaps the Dell Executive case?.

Grateful for any thoughts

Furby, i would imagine it would depend on the craddle as to how easy it is to hide keep the flap out of the way.

when i used my sena case in the car it was fine and was held out of the way by the windscreen. but i have since rotated my mount and use it in landscape mode, and the flap wont stay out of the way.

hope this has given you some brief insight.

Welcome to Aximsite

I use a Sena & vent mounted cradle with no problem.
The vents are near the top of the dash, and the flap folds back 90 degrees over the top of the dash.

There is not enough room though to fold the flap flat behing the axim or the cradle

If you want a really profesional and rock solid mount, look at the ProClips systems, but you have to take the Axim out of the case. Well worth the 15 seconds to do so as these mounting systems are the best.

I also have a Sena with a belt clip and it works perfectly for me when the clip part is removed (leaving just the knob at the back) and using just the vent part of a vent mount. Here are some pics of my setup:

Gigi, thats good to know since I have the same Sena case for my x51v. Is the link you provided for the clip the exact one you use? http://www.theclip.com/store/catalog...t-p-16152.html

I notice they also have this one which works with the swivel clip type on the Ultraclip used by Sena. This one as well.

Yes, that's exactly the one I have (although it may not be made by the same manufacturer). I just can't be bothered to remove the device from the case each time and set up a fancy mount, so this works perfectly for me. I also don't need a powered speaker so this is the most uncluttered solution that I could think of.

My receiver has little rubber feet on the bottom which hold it in place quite nicely. Perhaps your driving is a little "different" than mine...
