I hope had had bought a metal case instead of Sena......
I have a nice Sena case and I usually put my X50v in my rear pocket of my jeans. And problems began to emerge since 4 months ago.

My first X50v started to get problems like failing to power up, automatic hard-reset, etc.... After reinstalling the system again and again, I sent it back and got a replacement last month.

Today, the speaker of my new x50v failed to work, while there is sound if I plug my earphone. Sometimes if I put some pressure on the back of the CF card slot, it gives some sound, then fails again.

Then I figured out that the axim x50v is really fragile and the soft sena doesn't protect it from my butt. And all the problems came from that.

Then I noticed the problem may come from the gap between the CF card and SD card slot. This gap makes x50v susceptible to pressure.

The Sena case is stylish, thin, light, cradle compatible and can be opened and closed with one hand. But x50v itself is so weeeeeeeeeeeeak. I wish I had got a metal case for it..........

Is there anybody that have the same experience with me?

Any good recommendations for a metal case?

Thanks!

I have a RhinoSkin.

Coming up on 1 yr with my x50v, no problems like you describe.

I keep mine in my back pocket quite often, although I would never sit on it or apply pressure to my posterior without removing it first. :

I have dropped it a couple of times, case is getting scuffed, but Ax is OK so far.

I am lazy..... I feel it too much trouble to charge it out of a case, and too much trouble to remove from my pocket when I sit................
No perfect solution so far......

Yeah. My Rhinoskin has saved my bacon so many times it isn't even funny. That's why I went with an aluminum case over a leather one.

the speaker problem is likely caused by your headphone. It's a known issue. There is a latch inside the plug which detects if a headphone is present and switch the sound between headphone and speaker. In your case, the latch got stuck and so you can only hear sound by using headphone.

You can try fixing it by plug/unplug the headphone many times and hope to get the latch pop loose. The same exact thing happened to my 1st x51v and I demanded an overnight replacement.

I don't think this is the case.
To be honest, I never used headphone for my new axim x50v replacement. I plug the headphone just to make sure that the softwares are working right.

But I have the exactly same problem with my LG wireless phone as you describe. Good point though.

You can keep the Ax in the Sena and get one of those holster cases that attaches to your belt. This way you don't squish the Ax but you get to keep your nice case.

Do you have any recommendations for that?
Woud it be too bulky on your belt?

I'm thinking something like this. It would not be bulkier than an aluminum case, as I have both an aluminum and a Sena, and the Sena is much thinner. It would be safer than your back pocket and it's relatively cheap.

I don't know, but I just wanted to communicate the idea to you. You can also look at those phone holsters or other holster type of cases. Holsters aren't cases, they just hold your machine. I propose you get a holster and keep your sena. You might want to get an aluminum case w/a belt clip instead. Take a risk callussun, go for it!
