I need a solution
I'm going to buy a new keyboard for my x51v but Im not sure which one I should get. Im leaning toward the think outside bt keyboard and mouse but my concern is battery life. Does bt drain your battery quickly? Im coming from a x5 and never used bt before. I plan to use bt headphones too. So if I were at school listening to music (via bt headphones) checking/writing email (via bt keyboard and mouse) would my battery die in 30 minutes?

Would it be better to go IR stowaway and bt mouse? What's your guy's (or ladies') solutions?

My Targus keyboard is obsolete to me now or I would just use that since I bought it so that when I got a new device I wouldnt have to come to a forum and ask advice about a new keyboard!!!!!! ANYONE FROM TARGUS LISTENING????? (OK, ranting over)

Any advice would be appreciated. Everyone here be so much smarter than me.

Thanks in advance.

You can't use BT headphones with the x51v due to the crippled A2DP stack. Their are rumors saying that a new bluetooth stack is being release to allow A2DP and some of the other crippled bluetooth funcitons, but I have yet to see anything confirming this.

BT uses less battery than WiFi.
I believe the battery lasts near 3 hours with BT, but not quite sure.
It is definatly more than 30 minutes. You'll get at least an hour with WiFi on.

It all depends on what you're doing, how bright the screen is, etc.

Another option is a software keyboard like Tengo or Tengo Thumb. There are many different kinds. Check out the roundup in my sig. I gave up my keyboard after I discovered Tengo Thumb. It's cheaper, you don't have to carry it with you, and it's easy to use.

Awesome
Hey everyone thanks for the advice.
I use the sasang soft keyboard from diotek for my IM's. It is basically set up like a phone keypad in either English or Korean. That tengo keyboard looks way faster but Im good with my one handed solution. I was thinking more along the lines or being at the library checking email or ( I use my axim as a dictionary) looking up words during language study or taking notes during class. I can touch type in Eng and Kor so I could really use a keybord.

Thanks for all the imput about BT. Ill prolly go that route. Mobility today has a great deal on the keyboard and mouse. And I guess Ill just have to wait for the headphones .

Thanks again

I rarely use BT and when I do, it is to pair my phone, so I have to ask: isn't there a limit of devices that can be paired simultaneously with the Axim?

Is keyboard + mouse + headphone pairing really feasable?

I use the Think Outside BT keyboard and mouse with my X50v and would highly recommend them. The only thing I've added is a mini bookchair as a stand for the Axim; I found line of sight when using the built in stand too low; however you can detach it and place ona couple of books etc.

cherry.
if you use diopen, be careful about bt keyboard.
It has a little bit problem with korean input due to driver of keyboard. Sometimes Diopen does'nt recognize their driver.

BTW, why need keyboard ? I think calliographic module of diopen (both Korean & English) might be faster than small keyboard unless you use full keyboard. you can write to screen then diopen automatically recognize your writing with word suggestion. it save money, less luggage, longer battery life.
