Arkon DM320 vs CM720

Can anyone tell me what the real difference is between the Arkon DM320 "docking mount" vs the CM720 "car mount"? The 320 certainly looks a little nicer but what does it have/not have that the 720 does?

Both are powered mounts that have speakers built-in. The DM-320 is designed to be used with the x50/x51 only and without any case. It has the connection built directly into the base and fits the Axim snuggly.

The CM720 is more generic and isn't as form-fitting. It will allow the Axim to be connected while in a case. The connector to power the PDA is a separate cable that connects to a port on the mount, which then connects to the PDA. When you buy the CM mount, you have to specify which PDA adapter you want.

The DM-320 cannot be used with other PDA's whereas the CM one can be used with other PDA's as long as you buy the adapter cable for that specific PDA. So the DM-320 looks better, but cannot be used with the Axim in a case and is not good for future compatability.

DON'T BUY IT! I am on my 3rd RMA unit and I will not allow them to give me a 4th. I am requesting they refund my money. The ratchet style side clamps will not hold to the test and they will eventually stop working and the Elmer’s glued in front module will come unglued and all is lost after that. Of all 3 units the same things happened. I am a business travel and this unit cannot withstand the simple un-mounting and mounting tasks that should be a standard field test for their products. I never leave my AXIM in the unit if I am not in the car and the simple task of releasing the sides by depressing the button and then lifting the AXIM off the plug eventually results in disaster. I had to use tie wraps on one trip just to get by and just this week I had to use my Velcro strips to hold it in place. Until they change this holder style and go with a clip in model, I would shop elsewhere.
