Whats a good standard car mount??
I if somebody could provide me with a link or atleast a searchable name for a good car mount?? it can be either a windshield mount or car seat bolt in mount, I was wondering if this would work? http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PSP-Car-Flo...QQcmdZViewItem

That would be awesome if it did since I have both a PSP and Axim X50v!!

I second that. You just have to re-secure it once in a while though, just like any other windshield mounts, but it's pretty solid for me. 100% recommended.

I use the proporta one in conjunction with the case from them. they are magnetic so they just stick to each other. this means I can leave the axim in its case when attached to the car mount

For those of you who use the windsheild mount... do you put it in the middle, or along the left hand side of the windsheild?

Wondering how much it's going to be in the way...

-- I'll be using the mount that comes with the Dell GPS System.

I don't like windshield mounts. I think they just look tacky and don't work well with the large cab-forward windshield on my Sienna. What I have done is the following and I couldn't be happier:

1. Attached a Pro-fit LowBoy Adhesive mountto a convenient spot on my dash with adhesive. Pro-fit also makes vehicle-specific mounts that work well in many cars but the on for the Sienna was too far to the passenger side so I used the adhesive LoBoy mount to place it exactly where I wanted it right above and to the right of my steering wheel.

2. Bought a Seidio G4850 mounting cradle with integrated GPS. This baby is awesome and I get a GPS fix almost instantly when putting the Axim into the car cradle. Since the GPS is always on I don't have to worry about charging or losing a bluetooth GPS and since it is integrated into the mount I don't lose a CF card slot.

3. Used a Seidio hardwire kit to permanently wire the cradle to my car's 12 volt power so that I don't have any power cables hanging around the dash or using up the cigarette lighter plug which is now freed up for my cell phone charger.

4. Bought a casette tape adapter (one of those things you put into your casette deck with a wire leading out that plugs into a headphone jack). This lets me play MP3s from the Axim into the car stereo. I do this all the time for podcasts while driving. And if I am running mapopolis and mortplayer at the same time I get mapopolis breaking in with voice commands for the turns and then immediately going back to the music.

Hmmm .... try a search on these 2 part numbers: 848627 and 968627 ...both are for the Axim x51v! I have the 848627 one ....not sure where you went wrong but I just navigated the page (select "Device Holders" on the left, then "Dell" from the pulldown and then "x51v" on the model pulldown).

You want something strong, you don't want your expensive PDA crashing to the floor if you hit a hard bump, etc. Also, while the screen is good on the x51v it hard to see in sunlight. Mine is down by the radio controls facing me and on sunny days it's hard to see. I can't imagine it up above the dash, mounted to the windshield.
