anyone combine the two, Fotochute, and the RATOC card?
if not, any suggestions on a similar setup?

I have a similar setup to use my x50v and PSD (portable storage device) to manage photos on the road, but not with the RATOC USB-CF card. If your sole purpose is to create a PSD for photo storage then this alternative may work for you as well. But if you are looking for a solution to turn the Axim into a USB host to work with a variety of USB devices obviously you will need the RATOC or a similar product.
Here's my setup:
1. Use Resco Photo Viewer (or any other photo viewer/editor SW) on the Axim to view/edit/annotate photos on the CF card from the camera. When done,
2. Transfer photos to the PSD's hard disk (I use a Compact Drive 70x.)
3. CF card back in the camera (delete photos on card if so desired.)
If your preference is the Fotochute by Smartdisk, which doesn't have a built-in card reader, you can get a card reader for CF/SD cards for $5 to $10, and use it in conjunction with the Fotochute. As stated before, if your sole purpose is to have a PSD for photo storage this route is simplier and cheaper. The only problem with this approach is that the media types are restricted to CF and SD, since my x50v supports only these two formats/form factors.
