Top Flip Case for X51v
Hi!

I had a X50v and the original case from Dell, but sadly the X50v fall out of it and the screen cracked...

Now I got a brand new X51v, and I don't wnats the same thing to happen to this baby.

I've read through the threads regarding cases for X51, but I can't find a good answer for my basic question;

What case, that is top flip openable is suitable for X51v?

I still have the carmount that came with the X50 GPS package, would my new case fit in that mount? The carmount also have a magnet that may be useful?

Hi,

I have an x51v also and am using the flip case from Dell. I'm planning on getting the Innopocket Magnum case. From what I've read it's smaller than the Dell flip case. I have an Arkon car mount (mounts on the car vent) and I can fit the Dell case on the mount without any problems. I've read good things about the Innopocket Magnum Case.

http://innopocket.com/web/showProduc...C&code=DX-3110

Also, check out www.aximcases.com. They have a lot of options to choose from and also have the Innopocket Case a little cheaper.

If you don't mind a leather case then Sena is the way to go.

I bought a Piel Frama leather case for my X51v. I had one for my Palm Tungsten C. It is a well made case.

Definately Sena. Great case, in or out of the cradle!

Cheryl knows!

Thanks for the replies, on additional question regarding Sena.

If I choose a Sena-case, do I need screen protector?

At the pictures of the case it looks like the screen is protected.

The screen is protected when the case is closed, but it would still be vulnerable when the flap on the case is flipped up during use.

macki,

Definitely get a screen protector. I got one from screenguardz.com (invisibleshield.com) and it works great. It's $11.95 and they have a lifetime replacement should the protector go bad. It does take a little getting use to but after a day or two of using it, I don't even know it's there.

There are other screen protectors that are good also. Recommendation is to get one... the day you get your screen scratched or anything else, you'll regret not having one.

I am thinking of getting a screen protector, too, but I have a question first.

I am a little concerned about the design of the pouch that comes with the Axim X51v package. Will sliding an unprotected Axim in and out of that pouch leave any marks on the screen?

waqqas31,

Sliding the case in and out of the pouch doesn't cause any damange as the screen is recessed. I have the pouch and also the flip case from Dell. Use the flip case mostly and am about to purchase one of the Magnum case by InnoPocket.

One thing I'll tell you is that my mind is at ease knowing the screen has a protector on it. I had a Palm PDA before this and over time the screen will get a marks because of using it over and over, especially when you click on the same spot repeatedly. For me I notice this and it really bugged the heck out of me. From what I read, screen protectors will prevent this also in additional to preventing accidental scratches.

Thanks Mike!

So now the question is, what's the best brand of screen protector and where can I get it for the best price (shipped to Canada)? I'm a relative Axim n00b, as you can probably tell Oh, and I prefer the non-glare type (unless you can tell me a reason to go for the other kind instead).

If you're in Toronto (which according to your profile, you are), there is a PDA store that sells Boxwave protectors. Aximsite members get 10% off:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=76544

(Call first to confirm.)

One protector is $16.99CAD, which seems pretty hefty, but when you compare the price on the Boxwave site ($12.95 + $2.50 shipping = $15.45USD), you're not paying more when you take into account taxes and the 10% discount. You also don't have to wait for it in the mail!

Yeah, I'm a newbie as well when it comes to the axim world

I did some research on this great forum and decided to purchase a Innopocket Magnum with some Boxwave crystal screen protectors.

I am still considering the sena case because it can fit in the cradle, but softpocket.ca does have the blue/black in stock right now.

A word of warning when purchasing from softpocket.ca: they are pretty slow on the communications. It took me quite a while to get a hold of them even by phone. I suggest physically going to their store if possible.

And don't forget to get the 10% coupon here in the forum.
