Pelican Power Brick Recall
For those of you that were even considering getting the Pelican Power brick as an alternative mobile charger, and I was one of them, this item has been recalled due to the fact that the battery charger’s circuit board can overheat and cause its plastic cover to melt which poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers

Some have reported good stuff from Pelican.

Glad I didn't follow advice!

Thanks for the heads up!

Wow, mine NEVER gets hot, much less warm! It does make an odd 'humming' sound, but that is about it. When the flashing green light goes solid, it's charged (and the humming stops).

I love mine and couldn't live without it!

Mine works OK too, doesn't get hot, barely warm and no buzzing. I'm keeping but I guess I'll keep an eye on it when charging.

Thanks for the info, I registered for the recall on my one non-working brick from G-toyz. My 2nd one works fine.

For those of you who have the Brick is there a model/serial number? Might be just a certain production block that is at fault and not the entire line. I was out looking for one today; seems my local Wal-Marts were out of them (not even a spot on the shelf for them). I guess I'll wait to go to Best Buy to find it.

Thanks, I also have one from g-toyz that I want to get rid of, but since I don't actually have a PSP, not much of the replacement stuff appeals to me, but hey, maybe I can sell the replacement stuff on eBay, which I couldn't the defective Power Brick.

Looks like another reunion of the Power Brick Interest Group! Thanks for the info, LocutusBorgMan. It was good of you to inform our collective consciousness of the recall!

Yes, I was just thinking out loud to disseminate the info to the collective.

I'm glad you did Locutus, so I signed up for the recall. I want a wall charger for the psp b/c it'll work for the Ax. What else there would be useful?

I too went for the wall charger. It's a good thing that the recall registration site didn't ask for pertinant information about your PSP to qualify you for an exchange or all of us Aximers would have been totally out of luck!

This is slightly left of the subject here, but does anyone know if the Pelican car charger for the PSP will work for the Axim?

TIA
Rick
