help me pick some BT headphones.

i dont care if i have a bt stack or not anymore, i am going to buy some bluetooth headphones that i can get an adapter for and use with my axim x51v and to answer calls with my motorola razr v3 (plus i will use it time to time with my notebook) well im debating between motorola and plantronics, does anyone have any experience with these?
plantronics headphones-

motorola headphones and adapter-

any other ideas would be great, i am looking for comfort, features, sound, reliability and mostly build quality, and price is not an issue. i like how the plantronics can be hard wired for airplane use but the design looks uncomfortable.

feedback please...thanks

Do you plan on talking when you take calls? I'm pretty sure you won't be able to pair headphones with your V3, and if you're able to, you're not gonna be able to talk into it like a headset.

yeah both devices are compatible with the razr v3 for answering calls, they both have microphones to talk. i guess the are more of a stereo headset.

well it looks like the motorola comes with a hard wire for flight but i am discouraged by the plantronics becasue the play/pause and previous/next track buttons dont work with the universal adapter. does anyone know if the motorola's controls work with the dc800 adapter?

I have the Plantronics 590A set - owned them for just over 3 weeks now. I have a couple of concerns with them:

1) They aren't overly comfortable. I broke down and modded my set by replacing the foam earpads with padded ear cushions I removed from a set of JVC HA-B25-SL headphones. Plantronics makes some padded ear cushions but tech support couldn't tell me if they would fit the 590s. When I saw the JVC set were the same size, I bought a pair to cannibalize just for the ear cushions. The Plantronics ear cushions are these:

2) The LED ring on the right side is very annoying in a darkened room. It flashes continuously while they're on, and they are quite bright. It can be annoying to people on your right, like the passenger beside you on the bus. I'm planning to remedy this issue with a little silver nail polish or model paint, leaving just a small portion of the LED ring visible for notification.

3) As expected, they don't currently work with the Axim X51v. I'm hoping that Dell did implement A2DP and AVRCP in the next ROM update (A08?). I use the BT tx that ships with the 590s and the sound quality is great - it also has very good range.

Things I like about the 590s: the sound quality before I modded them with the ear cushions was acceptable, but with the cushions they're even better - they isolate outside sound more and create a bit of a chamber providing better bass response. I also really like the fact that they are both BT stereo headphones AND a headset - the built-in voice tube system that Plantronics uses actually has pretty decent quality sound. The 'flight cable' for using them hardwired on an airplane doesn't use the battery at all, and they work quite well with the BT dongle on my PC at home. Combine that with the home charger and the USB charging cable and it's quite a well thought out kit - all accesories included.

Some reviews:

http://www.thinkcomputers.org/index....reviews&id=349

Note: the reviewer at Thinkcomputers states he was able to use his 590s with Skype, but as of yet I haven't managed to get the voicetube microphone on them to work with my PC. It works beautifully with my Jabra A210 universal BT adapter (for non-BT phones) and with a friend's Nokia cellphone, so I know the voicetube microphone works. I suspect it's a peculiarity with my USB BT dongle and the BlueSoleil stack it comes with. I'm planning on getting a new Class 1 dongle with BT 2.0+EDR support, hopefully with the Widcomm stack.

Let me know if you have questions.

The adapters that the Plantronics and Motorola use do not support AVRCP. AVRCP is the protocol which allows use of the play/pause/next track/previous track/call answer/call mute buttons. So far I have used AVRCP on my PC with its USB BT dongle, but not with my Axim or anything else connected to the Plantronics BT transmitter. I am fairly certain the Motorola adapter will yield the same result - it is just a BT transmitter for the audio source it is connected to.

I suggest itech R35 or S38 (if you don't use AVRCP)
it lets you use your own earphones
sounds is great and full, and less interruption

for my experience, currently bt2.0 Broadcom chip does not have good range, even with class1
I have Level One MDU-0025 (same hardware as Cellink 6030), it has decent range, but the thing you may concern is: it use CSR bluecore 4, which uses Toshiba bt stack

this leads me to believe that the dc800 supports a2dp as well as avrcp, can anyone confirm?

when used as bt dongle through USB (not audio input)
also, you may consider some class 1 bluetooth 2.0 USB dongle (be careful when doing ebay, there're 99.99% counterfeit "billionton" products out there {the adaptor with "fake" antenna})
get Level One MDU-0025 or Cellink 6030, you won't be disappointed (range wise)

The answer is no... the line that clearly states this is:

"The stereo gateway supports A2DP only and can not be used as a Bluetooth dongle"

The stereo gateway is the DC800. There is no reason for a device like the DC800 to support AVRCP. It is meant to convert an audio source to an A2DP stream. For AVRCP to work, your source device must have AVRCP capability. A PC with a BT dongle and appropriate stack will work. A CD player or tape deck interfaced to the DC800 will only be able to output the audio, but not be controlled by the buttons on the headphones. There are no control cable connections from the DC800 to the device as there is no single standard for this - i.e. Sony uses Control-S, Panasonic uses Control-L (or LANC), etc.

You will only get AVRCP functionality with source devices that support AVRCP. Hopefully this will include the Axim X51v with ROM A08. :)

However, even more interesting is the remote control functionality which lets you control the media player of the attached Bluetooth stereo device (as long as it supports the Bluetooth AVRCP profile which most A2DP devices supports in addition too). Here you can play and pause a song, jump to the next or previous one without taking the device out of your pocket. This is more than handy since you don't need a second (wired) control and provides the best user experience you can expect.
