CF card questions - X51v
What is the highest capacity CF card that the X51v can handle? And is it worthwhile to buy the higher speed cards that are available, or does the Axim limit the memory data transfer speed, and not take advantage of the higher speed capability of the faster CF cards?

I have submitted these questions twice to Dell (using their support web page and my express code), and did not get a reply to either submission. [Dell's rep that they provide good customer support is sure not evident to me.]

How big? the question is probably how much can you afford?

the axim itself doesn't take advantage of higher speed cards, but you may get the benefit when using a card reader to transfer stuff (yes you do want a card reader)

oh and avoid Oem microdrives as they won't work

I have a Toshiba 2GB CF card....retail packaged but no speed ratings stated anywhere, it works well for me. The transfer speed is not too slow when using the card reader. I use it just to store video and they all played fine on my axim.

I have a 2 gig CF card and a 2 gig SD card in my X50v, with no troubles, however, I use pocket Backup to make regular backups, and I find that if i use an old 128 sandisk standard sd card, instead of my Ultra 11 sd card, it takes 6 times as long, so there must be a speed advantage in the Axim

I just ordered a 8GB microdrive for my X51v hopefully i'll have it by tomorrow. i've read that some members here have 8GB Cf and 2GB Sd setup with no hiccups. Thats what im planning with mine. Try a search on microdrives and you'll find a whole lot of options.

I have the same 4 GB Kingston card, and I've seen people talk about having 8 GB CF and 4 GB SD cards in their Axims, so I'm guessing no, there's no hard limit. Yes, faster cards will bring some advantage, though not the full rated speed of the card.
