were to buy - bigger battery
Hi,

First of all I am thinking about getting a bigger battery for my X50V. I am considering a 1800 or 2200.

Any recomended e-stores? Of course I want a good price...

Any other advice is great.

Thanks!

Cases.com (same as aximcases.com) has an ongoing discount code for Aximsite members. You can find it in the Members Discount forum. Lion Battery also has discounts periodically. Both are reputable vendors.

If you want the 2200mAh then check out this thread. The problem is that even though you can get the 2200 for about $20 shipped, you have to spend at least $30 for a case, making your cost about $50. Then you have a very thick pocket pc. For about the same money I bought the 1800mAh and use the thin Sena case and the battery lasts almost as long.

There's a coupon for Cases.com somewhere on this site, and their service is excellent.

Stevenator is right on that the 2200mAH batteries from global-batteries are thicker (basically twice the thickness of the standard 1100mAH) so instead being flush with the back surface of your Axim it will stick out a bit (1/4".)

I don't have any first-hand experience with the 1800mAH batteries, I have been using the 2200mAH from global-batteries in the past three months and they last 2.5 times as long as my original one-year-old 1100mAH batteries from Dell . I know, it should have been just twice as long but perhaps my 1100mAH batteries are getting old The 1100mAH batteries last about 2 hours when playing video using TCPMP at 50% brightness.

If you are still leaning towards getting the 2200mAH for its capacity after taking all of the above into consideration; then finding the right case is obviously your next quest. If you don't mind aluminum hard cases I would suggest to take a look at the DSI case that accommodates 2200mAH battery. They are listed in the sticky thread "x50/x51 Series Case List" click here in this forum and the price is excellent at $16, the build quality is also excellent. I couldn't be happier with my purchase from DSI.
HTH.

HTH.
Well I ordered a 2200mAH. I am bummed because the DSI case is out of stock Thanks for the suggestion!! Is there any other hard case alternatives for about the same price?

I am certain that I will travel with my normal 1100mAH batt and hard case (because of size). I want the case for the 2200mAH for just general, around home (and RV) protection.

My point - I will consider any protective case (thats not huge) for a reasonable price. Hard case, and under $30 preferred.

Suggestions?

RhinoSkin - I got one recently and now my Piel Frama leather case is all but retired - the build quality is excellent, the only thing I'm not confident about is the post they use for the belt clip - but I don't use it so it isn't a worry for me.

I'm sorry to say that right off hand I'm not aware of any other e-stores with the same prices for Axim cases. Hope everything works out for you. Good luck!

actually, I just found out, the standard case is our of stock - not the one for the 2200 battery I was in too much of a hurry last night when I looked at the site.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm glad to hear that. The only drawback I can think of regarding the 2200mAH case is that it does not have the opening for the reset button in the back. I don't quite understand the reasoning behind that since their 1100mAH case, which I also own, does have the opening/hole for the reset button. So if you have the need to soft reset your x50v frequently then you can do what I did - drilled a hole using a Dremel; took me about 20 minutes.
