Any other advice is great.

Stevenator is right on that the 2200mAH batteries from global-batteries are thicker (basically twice the thickness of the standard 1100mAH) so instead being flush with the back surface of your Axim it will stick out a bit (1/4".)
I don't have any first-hand experience with the 1800mAH batteries, I have been using the 2200mAH from global-batteries in the past three months and they last 2.5 times as long as my original one-year-old 1100mAH batteries from Dell

. I know, it should have been just twice as long but perhaps my 1100mAH batteries are getting old

The 1100mAH batteries last about 2 hours when playing video using TCPMP at 50% brightness.
If you are still leaning towards getting the 2200mAH for its capacity after taking all of the above into consideration; then finding the right case is obviously your next quest. If you don't mind aluminum hard cases I would suggest to take a look at the DSI case that accommodates 2200mAH battery. They are listed in the sticky thread "x50/x51 Series Case List"
click here in this forum and the price is excellent at $16, the build quality is also excellent. I couldn't be happier with my purchase from DSI.
HTH.
