I'm looking for an inexpensive solution to connect wireless on my x51v to the internet. I have a fibreglass internet connection 10 mbit up and down and one pc.

The pc is already has a wired connection so it's just for the x51v.
Is the linksys wrt54g a good choice? It's not too expensive.

The WRT54g is an excellent choice. If you can find one that is a version 1 through 4 there are also free 3rd party linux firmware options that will add alot of additional functions like WDS, QOS...etc. Version 5 and above however do not use a linux firmware, but are still good for basic functionality.

I am using a WRT54G version 5 and I did have some trouble until I updated the firmware to the latest version. I have a 2.2 mb/s internet connection and on my x51v I get about 1.1 mb/s download speed.

I can't decide wich router to take: the asus wl-500g deluxe of the linksys wrt54gl. The asus has some additional features (eg usb ports), but the linksys has better support of alternative firmwares.

I'm using a DLink DL524. I haven't had any problems here at all.

Same here. Actually mine is a DL-524 Rev. C flashed with a hacked version of the firmware and it's now a 624 . Though for the x50v it makes no difference.

Occasionally the WPA setting causes problem in connecting the Axim to the 524 but a soft reset usually takes care of that.

The WRT54G is probably a safer choice whereas the 524 is a less inexpensive solution.
