dell oem car charger
i have an interesting situation with the dell oem car charger. it works with my x5 but doesn't work with my x50v. when i unplug the outlet from the cig outlet, the power button on the x50v will turn green for a half second, then turn off. same situation if the x50v is on or off. since the charger works with the x5 i'm at a loss as to what's going on. the x50v charges in the cradle perfectly fine too.

on a hunch i hooked up the power cable going to the cradle directly to the x50v using the power dongle, and it works. so i guess this means the cig charger itself is defective somehow, altho it's able to work on my x5. it's the 2nd one that's gone up in smoke too.

fwiw to anyone else.

I have had a horrible time getting car chargers to work with my x50v. None of the ones that I have used were OEM, though. For some reason it charger very, very slowly or not at all, even thought the power button turns orange like it should be charging. I don't know what the problem is.

Also, whenever I use a power charger and my FM Transmitter, I get horrible buzzing and humming over the radio when it is plugged in. If I unplug it and run off battery, no noise.

with the car charger i'd make sure it was outputting 2amps of current, and that it wasn't based on any type of usb connection. most of the junk on ebay seem to be of the usb variety. can't help with the fm transmitter though.

I have an X51V with a Seidio G4500S powered mount, and a Belkin FM transmitter, and I too get the buzzing if the Axim is charging

I tried using my OEM Dell power cable with an AC/DC converter in the car, and I'd get the buzzing... On a gamble, I bought a retractible USB/DC charger/sync cable, and no buzz. Seems to work ok...

hm i seem to be getting a humming/buzzing noise too when using an ebay car charger. the weird thing is i'm not using an fm transmitter but rather an audio cable that hooks to the cd changer of my head unit. there may be a way to dampen the noise if you move the power line further from the head unit....
