bluetooth keyboards
I'm considering buying a keyboard for my x50v. Does anybody out there use one? Which one? Will any Bluetooth keyboard work, such as the Microsoft bluetooth keyboards? How about the apple ones?

Thanks.

Not sure if standard BT keyboards work. I use the ThinkOutside BT folding one, which is superb.

go with the thinkoutside one, its sturdy, has great battery life, and nothing cooler than whipping out a foldable keyboard

Actually, I was refering to full-sized bluetooth keyboards. Is there any techical reason why one shouldn't work with the Ax? Anyone ever try it?

I've had a few keyboards, and never used them (cause they were too small, bad response, etc.). I now have Dell's BT keyboard (it's a Thinkoutside keyboard with the Dell brand, and much better color). I absolutely love it, and use it all the time. It feels just like my notebook keyboard, simple set-up (download the drivers right from Thinkoutside.com, or with the Broadcomm BT, I now have on my Axim, set-up was simple (no need to download any extra drivers). As well, the battery life on this thing lasts forever (I've had it since Christmas, use it a lot, and still haven't replaced it). Trust me, they're a bit expensive, but you will be glad you paid the bit extra.

I bought a Microsoft desktop for Bluetooth (kbd, mouse and BT dongle combo) for my desktop, and the kbd works just fine. I haven't messed with the mouse much yet, though.

I have the Think Outside keyboard I ordered through Pocket Solutions. As usual for me, it's not working. I spent forever trying to set up a bluetooth Active Synch and finally got it to work so I got ready to install the drivers from my laptop but got an error message after downloading to the Axim that said the drivers weren't detectable. So, I went to their website to see if maybe they had them there, and when I got to the page for the 51v, it had them listed and I downloaded them but when I unzipped the files, there weren't any drivers. THen I notced that at the top of the list they have "ERROR, Not for PUblic Use."

What's with that? So, I've got a call and email into them...when you call, you get voice mail. And I've written Pocket Solutions since they no longer show this on their list for the X51v. Is anyone else having problems or do you even have this?

The keyboad looks great.

Just got a call back from Think OUtside! WOW, another helpful person. I had to download the drivers again from their website. This time, they downloaded completely and I set up my Axim in Active Synch, then installed the drivers after unzipping the downloaded files.

In order to set it up, I had to deactavte all my running programs except AS so there would be rooom for the keyboard to instll. He said it has to go on the device itself, not a card. Then it would complete the installation.

Turning off the sound...if you notice on the Think Outside screen, there's a little icon like a square, kinda like the Axim keyboard one. Click on that and you get some options on the right, one of which is the speaker.

He reminded me, and I said I'd pass it on, you need to set up a strictly numeric code between the two, no alphabet. That sometimes causes problems.

Also, when you start, you hold down both fn keys (right and left of the space bar) and the Cntl key. If you want to BREAK the bluetooth connection, then you do that; otherwise, it's just for setup. THe keyboad goes off automatically when you close it up and the bluetooth goes on automatically when you open it up andthe axim is on. Pretty cool.

This is one company that gets my vote for support!!!
