Any x51v charger experiences? (3 in 1s, car, outlet)
Hey all,

I'm a new x51v owner, and this is site is a godsend!

I'm having a bit of trouble on deciding on what chargers to buy to replace the bulky docking station. While the "USB sync/charge cable warning" sticky is very helpful -- I cancelled an eBay purchase because of it, whew! -- it deals mainly with the x50 and I'd like to hear from some x51v users.

The perfect solution would involve those 3 in 1 kits (retractable USB cable/car charger/wall plug), but do any companies currently make one that works well? (i.e. x51v can be used while charging). From the sticky I thought the Belkin product was the winner, but problems were reported in another thread.

Could any x51v owners who went through this purchase experience share their successful experiences? Belkin? Boxwave perhaps? Thanks!

I purchased the Boxwave 3 in 1 kit (miniSync, wall and car charger). At first, I was not pleased with either one. However, after some playing around I am somewhat satisfied with the miniSync and wall charger. However, I returned the car charger because the battery had to already be almost complete full (>80-90%) to be able to use and charge in my car.
I kept the other two, not because I'm thrilled with them, but because they are suitable for now. I would definitely like something better if there is out there.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.

Yes....yes it was.
However, I hear that it also depends on the 12v source of the car. I have an '01 Civic. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. Either way, I did not have much luck with it.

Hmmm, not so high power then I guess... I do have a car charger with the USB socket that I bought from Boxwave for my Rio Karma, but having struggled to charge with it clearly this also isn't capable of giving enough amps. I'm not sure whether this was deemed high power or not at the time though.

Be careful when you buy a car charge for the x51v. If you do a search, you will see most are underpowered!

I bought mine on ebay and it is underpowered. That means I have to get it fully charged if I want to use it for 10 hrs trip.

I bought a 2000mA car charger for the PSP, and it works flawlessly. Could not be happier with it.

Hi gnec,

I assumed you are from Canada since your carrier is Rogers :-).

I just bought the other day from futureshop a car charger for psp (Intec brand). It's on sale for $9.99 (reg price 19.99). They have an AC charger as well at the same price. The car charger works well with my x51v. It was able to charge the unit while in use. No screen flickering.

Your sleuthing skill are impeccable, as expected from a fellow Ontarian.

So it sounds like the PSP car charger is the way to go, as well as an PSP AC charger. Is there anything that works for USB as well?

I was hoping these things will be a little more portable; it looks like my tech bag is going to get a bit cramped.
